The Editor and Proofreader works with several ministry teams to edit various materials and proofread multiple resources. These may include signs, advertisements, newsletters, and brochures, presentations, book projects, curricula, emails, articles, and video elements. This position will allow one to impact others through a service mindset centered on making an eternal difference. This position should display our Core Values of SERVE (Serve, Equip, Relate, Value, Engage) when interfacing with both internal and external customers to ensure that the message and mission of Answers in Genesis is portrayed in an effective and God-honoring fashion. Responsibilities
Promote the mission and standards of Answers in Genesis.
Create a SERVE culture environment in all work done.
Approach all tasks with a second mile mindset.
Prioritize personal integrity in all interactions and assignments.
Edit/proofread various AiG publications and documents.
Work with graphic designers and various departments to ensure consistent standards across AiG publications.
Research and evaluate accuracy of AiG resources.
Occasional small writing projects.
And all other duties and responsibilities as assigned by management.
Requirements
Must agree with and be able to sign our Statement of Faith.
Maintains a personal relationship with Jesus Christ.
Regular attendance at a local Bible-believing church.
Knowledge of creation/evolution issues.
An understanding and commitment to presuppositional apologetics.
Commitment to Christ and the AiG mission.
Excellent writing, editing, communication, and proofreading skills.
Research skills.
Attention to detail in composing, typing, and proofing materials in adherence to internal and published style guides and in several mediums utilizing software such as Acrobat, InDesign, Keynote, PowerPoint, Word, Google Docs, Asana, and Wrike.
Ability to identify and resolve problems in a timely manner.
Ability to prioritize and plan work activities and use time efficiently.
Ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously, while meeting deadlines.
Ability to coordinate complex processes within and between departments to meet deadlines.
Aptitude for computers and technology.
Competent with digital editing software (InCopy, InDesign, or similar).
Competent with Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint and Keynote.
Ability to work under deadlines.
Ability to occasionally work outside of regular business hours.
Ability to give and receive criticism with a graceful spirit.
Be able to work independently and handle sensitive material as necessary.
Education & Experience
Bachelors degree in journalism, English, or equivalent, and able to demonstrate skills in relevant areas
Recent experience in editing, proofreading, and/or writing
