Early Learning Coach

Classification: Classified- Exempt (200 days per year)

Salary Range 23-24: $51,545.51
(step 1/year 1) - $58,014.92 (step 5/year5)

Salary Range 24-25: Starting September 1, 2024, $53,452.69 (step 1/year 1) - $60,161.48 (step 5/year5)

SUMMARY: As an Early Learning Coach, you will be pivotal in supporting early childhood educators, specializing in the Early Childhood Education and Assistance Program (ECEAP), to elevate the quality of their programs. This role will work collaboratively with educators, administrators, and families to guarantee that children receive exceptional care and education during their formative years. This position will support ECEAP programs throughout the ESD 123 region through coaching, training, and providing resources to empower early childhood professionals to meet and exceed the standards outlined by the Early Achievers program.

Essential Functions

  • Provide individualized coaching and mentoring to early childhood educators to help them improve their teaching practices, curriculum development, and classroom management techniques.
  • Support teachers to identify goals and make Quality Improvement Plans to achieve goals.
  • Develop and deliver training sessions, workshops, and seminars on topics related to early childhood education, child development, and best practices in teaching.
  • In collaboration with program staff, conduct assessments and evaluations of early childhood programs to identify areas for improvement and develop action plans.
  • Provide feedback to teachers on their practice throughout Quality Recognition Cycles.
  • Connect educators and providers with resources, materials, and tools to support their professional growth and enhance the quality of their programs.
  • Collaborate with other Early Achievers coaches, program administrators, and community stakeholders to coordinate efforts and share best practices in early childhood education.
  • Ensure that early childhood programs meet the quality standards established by Washington State's Early Achievers program and provide guidance on achieving and maintaining compliance.
  • Collect and maintain accurate records of coaching activities, program outcomes, and participant progress.
  • Comply with all required data collection and reporting requirements.
  • Maintain documentation of required professional development
  • Support efforts to involve families in their children's education and development by providing resources, information, and opportunities for parent education and involvement.
  • Follow all Board policies and procedures
  • Maintain confidentiality

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education or related field.
  • A minimum of two years working with young children in a group setting and experience as an early learning coach, consultant, mentor or trainer.
  • If the best candidate for the position is not fully qualified, the contractor must ensure the newly hired staff person has an Associate’s degree in Early Childhood Education or related field, and is on a Professional Development Plan (PDP) to fully meet the qualifications of their role within five years.
  • Complete a department background check, pursuant to chapter 110-06 WAC.
  • Provide proof of tuberculosis (TB) testing or treatment pursuant to WAC 110-300-0105(3)
  • Show proof of MMR immunization or proof of immunity in accordance with RCW 43.216.690
  • Bilingual English/Spanish preferred

Additional Preferred Qualifications

  • Completion of Practice Based Coach Training by UW Cultivate
  • Experience and knowledge of Washington State Early Achievers Program
  • Experience working with ECEAP or Head Start preschool programs
  • Knowledge of ECE curriculum and environmental assessments

Working Conditions/Physical Requirements

Work is performed primarily in an office environment; however, travel may be required to local school districts and program sites. Sitting for extended periods of time may be required. Lifts and carries a maximum of 35 pounds. Adequate manual and finger dexterity, hearing, speech, and vision are necessary to perform the essential functions of this position.

Hazards: Those present in a normal office environment; no known significant hazards.
