ORGANIZATION
The Earl Monroe New Renaissance Basketball School (EMNRBS) is a charter, co-ed, tuition-free high school. With a total student body of 440 boys and girls, we seek to foster a unique, innovative, hands-on learning environment. This school is the first specialty high school in the entire country for basketball, but NOT for the PLAYING of the game. Our Founding Trustee, former NBA Commissioner David Stern, often said, "A Ball and a Book Can Change the World". Our community promotes a commitment to excellence, social responsibility, high achievement, and rigorous programs that empower and inspire students and those who facilitate their learning. All students will be challenged and supported in their drive to achieve wisdom, service, community, and leadership journey.

OPPORTUNITY
The Earl Monroe New Renaissance Basketball School (EMNRBS) seeks a passionate, energetic, and dedicated Academic Director to join our school starting July 2024. The ideal candidate has a proven record of leadership; will have experience working at the high school level; is proactive and data-driven; creates a welcoming school environment for students to develop academic and SEL skills; displays a passion for student engagement; supports the development and tracking of student programming needs; possesses a growth mindset; adequately addresses student and staff concerns; communicates specific school information to students, staff, and families; and has a passion for working with adolescents in a community with diverse backgrounds and perspectives.

The Earl Monroe New Renaissance Basketball School offers a competitive starting salary of $150,000 and a comprehensive benefits package, professional development opportunities, and an extraordinary work environment; this is a 12-month position. Essential Functions
- A bold, tireless, engaging change agent and culture-creator, who communicates a love of learning and passion for academic success at every stage of child and adult development
- Collaborating with community members and leading teams on the development and implementation of culturally relevant curriculum
- Develops and delivers professional development and provides coaching to faculty and staff to ensure our curriculum and instruction is driving results for all students
- Success managing adults and creating growth plans for direct reports, including strong self-awareness, with an ability to treat members of the school community with respect
- Developing and maintaining partnerships with participating educational institutions, industry partners, and community-based organizations to support school initiatives
- Superb organizational, project management, self-management skills, and problem-solving skills
- Participating in regular faculty development, reflective practice, professional organizations, and peer coaching
- Collaborating with the community to create and implement intervention plans for students the team identifies as needing additional support
- Working collaboratively with the community to ensure services are most effectively organized for students
- Utilizing technology to promote and monitor student learning and to communicate with students, parents, families, and colleagues
- Master's degree in the content area or related field required
- New York State SBL or SDL Certification preferred
- Five or more years of teaching experience with exceptional results
- School leadership experience preferred
- Experience developing staff and delivering outstanding professional development with a track record of student achievement, preferred
- Bilingual, preferred
