The Department of Service and Civic Innovation was created to respond to Governor Wes Moore's call to make Maryland the State that Serves. DSCI supports expanding public service as a pathway into good quality jobs in public service across the state through Maryland Corps/Service Year Option and AmeriCorps programs. The Emergency Preparedness Training Coordinator VISTA member will increase the capacity of DSCI and its partner organizations by building training materials, sessions, and partnerships to build the emergency preparedness of service members statewide. The member will build a database of the delivered training. The member will gain skills in relationship building, emergency response, disaster skills, non-profit management, and data collection. The Emergency Preparedness Training Coordinator VISTA should be passionate about helping others be prepared for emergency situations and increasing community resilience. Previous experience in emergency response is preferred but not required. The Emergency Preparedness Training Coordinator VISTA position comes with the benefits of VISTA service provided by AmeriCorps including a living allowance of $22,819.16 per year, health coverage options through the AmeriCorps agency, and an option at end of service of a Segal Education Award or a Cash Stipend.
