SUMMARY

The DriveWorks Automation Engineer is responsible for the overall engagement of assigned clients and their respective implementation project needs in engineering and business process automation. Such work comes in the form of client technical support, consultation, training, and delivery of implementation/project work. This is a customer-facing role that requires skillfully blending highly technical competencies with project management and relationship management.


ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES


Client Engagement

·       In every sense of the term, be a professional and productive consultant that delivers true technical value to the client. Deeply engage with clients to gather information, insights and foster long-term relationships.

·       Act as the technical subject matter expert for all things SOLIDWORKS, DriveWorks and related technologies.

·       Author project definitions (scopes of work) that capture time, materials and schedule required to fulfill.

·       Deliver standard and customized training at all skill levels.

·       Deliver impactful presentations to clients.

 

Technical Engagement

·       Be an expert in the application of the DriveWorks/SOLIDWORKS product suite and related technologies. Demonstrate expertise by presenting to prospective clients, user groups, tradeshows, executive briefings, webinars, etc, and by positioning yourself several steps ahead of the clients’ needs.

·       Stay on the cutting edge of automation technologies. Be resourceful in learning and putting new skills into practice. Maintain an aggressive professional development agenda. Never stop learning.

·       Be an adept technical problem solver; the ultimate troubleshooter with a knack for resourcefulness.

·       Develop productive industry relationships with software vendors' technical, sales support channels and the like.

 

REQUIRED SKILLS/ABILITIES

Technical

·       Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Engineering Technology, or other field related to a physical design process. Computer Science, IS/IT or similar technical coursework will be considered with some CAD/design/engineering exposure.

·       3 years of experience using SOLIDWORKS for product modeling and drawings, preferably in a manufacturing setting.

·       Some form of building programmatic execution of logic/processing: any use of programming language, work with creating macros, analytical or process-building software (Matlab, Alteryx, Viseo, etc).


Personal

·       Service-minded attitude, with thoughtful communication and presentation skills. 

·       Analytical thinker with troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.

·       Project management aptitude: Ability to manage multiple concurrent projects, be self-motivated & self-organized; deliverable focused.

·       Ability to quickly learn and execute in customer’s design & manufacturing environments.

·       Outstanding verbal and written communication skills. 


PREFERRED SKILLS

·       Hands-on DriveWorks development experience in a manufacturing setting.  Other design automation/configuration software will be considered (CPQ, KBMax, Tacton, Inventor iLogic, or custom use of CAD APIs).

·       SOLIDWORKS Certification (CSWP, CSWPA, CSWE). DriveWorks Pro Certification.

·       Other 3D CAD platforms will be considered (Inventor, Creo, Fusion, etc).

·       Experience with parametric modeling and design re-use principles.

·       Familiarity with modern project management and professional services delivery practices (ie, Agile).

·       Familiarity with requirements and solution architecture documentation (ie, LucidChart, Visio).

·       Software reseller (VAR) channel experience.

·       Application and/or web development programming experience (.NET, VB, JavaScript, HTML/CSS).

·       Experience with UI/UX design principles and tools (ie, Figma, wireframing, prototyping).

·       Familiarity with Windows networking/IT infrastructure.

·       Experience with cloud computing environments, such as Azure.  

·       Experience with interfacing with or administration of databases and query languages (ie, SQL).
