Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor of Arts in History or 4 years equivalent experience
- Minimum of one (1) year experience in museums, education, public history, humanities, archaeology, anthropology, or marketing, either through professional work or volunteer experience
- Knowledge of social media platforms and online engagement as documented through professional or freelance experience or education
- Cover letter and resume
- Minimum two (2) years professional experience in social media through paid employment, volunteer/internship, or "personal branding"
- Education or coursework in marketing, hospitality, museums, or other related field
- Ability to use and management digital camera equipment, knowledge of video production, and ability to complete photo/video editing using Adobe Creative Cloud
- Knowledge of museum environments

Duties And Responsibilities
- Develops, executes, and evaluates interpretive and educational public programming including, but not limited to, scripting and filming of educational videos. Assists with the research, creation, and evaluation of materials for special programs and events. Maintains appropriate materials, activities, and crafts for educational and community outreach for various audiences.
- Develops, executes, evaluates, and monitors Mission San Luis social media presence across multiple platforms including Facebook, Instagram, etc. Creates content to further educational activities and boost attendance at special events/programs and attracts positive attention to the site. Manages social media calendar in conjunction with site activities as approved by Curator and Executive Director. Conceptualizes and writes content for organizational newsletters including the coordination and assignment of sections to appropriate staff members. Assists in drafting of press releases and coordination as directed by External Affairs Director and others.
- Assists Curator and Museum Program Supervisor in the conceptualization and implementation of Homeschool Day educational materials including collaborating with Mission San Luis educational staff in the creation of age-appropriate text, activities, and other educational materials. Serves as the lead writer for booklet materials. Assists in the preparation of materials and site for the event.
- Supports the Curator in the maintenance of museum inventory including Education, Wardrobe, and Library Collections. Assists in the maintenance of Past Perfect Database and supervision of assigned interns to ensure accuracy.
- Assists in the preparation for all site activities, events, and tours. When assigned, serve as liaison with vendors, community partners, clients, and others to ensure effective set-up, implementation, and evaluation of site activities.
- Assists staff in logistics for and execution of public programs and performs other work-related duties as required. Cross trains with other departments to assist front-of-house, gift shop, education department, and rentals team as needed.
The ideal candidate will possess experience in marketing, hospitality, museums or other related fields as well as an appreciation of historic sites. Candidate should also possess the following qualities:
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Ability to learn complex historical concepts and interpret written, visual, interactive, and oral formats including lesson plans, historic activities, presentations, etc.
- Ability to convert historical research into multi-sensory, multi-disciplinary programs for audiences of all ages and backgrounds
- Proficiency in social media positing, monitoring, and reporting and standard office software including Microsoft Office
- Knowledge of Florida history
- Knowledge of museum terminology, research, and programs
- Public speaking skills and willingness to give tours or presentations to large groups of people
- Excellent customer service skills, ability to maintain a collegial relationship with other team members, and ability to relate to people of all ages and abilities *
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a team; ability to multi-task, problem-solve, and pay attention to detail; and
