Job Description:

The DE&I Manager is responsible for assisting in the development and advancement of the Firm’s DE&I strategy. This position is responsible for developing and overseeing in-depth data analytics and programming. This position is also responsible for executing strategic direction by collaborating closely with the Senior Director, DE&I, Recruiting, Marketing and any other professional development departments. A hybrid work schedule is available for this position.

Reporting Relationship: This position reports to the Senior Director, DE&I

Job Responsibilities:

  • Partner with firm leaders on the overall DE&I strategy, programs and initiatives related to recruitment, development, advancement and retention of diverse personnel.
  • Consult with resource groups to develop, implement and evaluate their annual goals and objectives.
  • Develop relationships with attorneys and allied personnel to act as a main contact with DE&I questions and concerns.
  • Execute internal and external events, workshops, trainings and programs.
  • Cultivate relationships with internal and external personnel and clients, affinity bar associations, professional and community organizations and law school affinity groups.
  • Evaluate sponsorship opportunities, conference participation, speaking engagements and training opportunities for attorneys.
  • Act as the subject matter expert for industry diversity data. This includes regularly monitoring industry diversity data, maintaining data on competitors and internal diversity metrics to proactively advise senior leaders on the progress and success of the firm’s DE&I programs.
  • Manage and track DE&I data requests, questionnaire and reports. This includes RFP’s, client reports, and firmwide surveys and certifications.
  • Create and deliver presentations for DE&I related events and meetings.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

  • 5-7 years of DE&I experience, preferably within a law firm or professional services environment.
  • Bachelor’s Degree required. JD or MBA preferred. Work experience in lieu of a degree will be considered.
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to work with personnel at all levels.
  • Ability to maintain absolute confidentiality.
  • Strong time management skills with the ability to prioritize tasks and coordinate multiple projects at once in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong project management skills and attention to detail.
  • Self-motivated and takes initiative to develop solutions when they aren’t readily available.
  • Experience with reporting and query tools, databases and data management.
  • Demonstrated Microsoft Excel skills.

In accordance with applicable Federal and State laws, the anticipated annual salary range for this position, depending on location, is as follows:

Boston, MA/ Washington, DC/ Los Angeles: $105,830 to $157,195

New York City, NY/San Francisco, CA: $110,240 to $163,745;

Chicago, IL: $101,420 to $150,645

In addition to a standard benefits package, this role may be eligible for additional contingent compensation based on an array of factors, including but not limited to: work performance, geographic location, work experience, education, and qualifications. Because such contingent compensation is not yet calculable or may be zero ($0) in some circumstances, the above-listed salary range is Nixon Peabody’s good faith estimate of the annual salary it reasonably expects to pay for the position at the time of this posting.
