Distribution Center General Manager, Sr Operations Leader

Our client is seeking an experienced senior leader to oversee their dynamic distribution center and team in Dayton, NJ. This client is experiencing rapid growth and offers numerous opportunities for advancement to those who are performing and eager to grow.

As a DC General Manager, you will be pivotal in ensuring the smooth operation of the warehouse unit, improving processes and systems, and contributing to the company’s bottom-line success. The manager will lead a dynamic team of 30-60 employees operating on multiple shifts.

Key Areas of Responsibilities

1. General Operations Management: Take charge of the overall operations of the DC, including establishing and nurturing strong customer relationships.
2. Policy and Procedure Compliance: Ensure strict adherence to established policies and procedures, covering safety, personnel, security, pest control, and shrink control.
3. Data-Driven Decision-Making: Analyze financial and operational reports, and make informed decisions based on the results.
4. Warehouse Operations: Direct subordinates to oversee all warehouse operations, encompassing safety, sanitation, inventory management, and merchandising.
5. Service Standards and Mission: Define service standards and the operational mission of the DC, effectively communicating them to employees and monitoring activities to achieve branch goals.
6. Sales Maximization: Drive sales by guaranteeing high levels of customer service and appropriate workforce scheduling while staying within budgetary constraints. Regularly review inventory for accuracy and product availability and efficiently complete and process necessary reports and paperwork.
7. Talent Management: Oversee the selection, conduct annual performance appraisals, and facilitate the professional development of all Management-level personnel.
8. Personnel Supervision: Manage and provide guidance to department managers on employee relations issues.
9. Corporate Communication: Maintain open communication with Corporate Offices to ensure compliance with company policies and adhere to state and federal laws and regulations.

Education, Experience, and Skills Required

• Bachelor's degree preferred but not required.
• Minimum 4 years of management experience in food service or grocery distribution in a supermarket, club warehouse, big box, or mass merchandising environment.
• Background in P&L, inventory control, hiring/training staff, front end, cash control, payroll, and security/loss prevention is mandatory.
• Strong leadership skills, capable of running a high-volume warehouse operation.
• Excellent communication, organizational, and people management/training skills.
