Job Description Summary The Distinguished Staff Engineer - Industry and Regulatory is responsible for developing and collaborating across the enterprise to execute strategic regulatory and industry actions to position GE to shape and lead dialogue on a wide range of topics including certification of innovative technologies, airworthiness matters, evolving global regulations and policy, and protection of GE intellectual property. This role requires internal coordination across multiple organizations to identify and develop strategies for enabling opportunities and addressing emerging risks. These strategies will include external engagement with global regulators, trade associations, and industry working groups to shape and lead regulatory and industry dialogue. Job Description

Roles And Responsibilities
- Provide mentorship to key areas of the enterprise on working with regulators and industry groups to promote safety, quality, and compliance.
- Partner across the enterprise to develop and execute strategies yielding strong GE working relationships with industry associations and regulatory authorities at all levels.
- Identify/prioritize opportunities for GE representation on key regulatory and industry working groups and implement strategies to position GE to contribute meaningful feedback and support of pending and potential regulatory changes.
- Translate pending/potential regulation and policy changes into required internal actions and engage stakeholders to develop action plans to mitigate potential risks to GE.
- Serve as a coach for regulatory facing teams on understanding of regulatory intent and methods for productively engaging in regulatory compliance and continued operational safety discussions.
- Identify potential regulatory barriers to rapid implementation of innovative technologies and lead/support business efforts to promote regulatory acceptance of these technologies.
- Support development and execution of a global strategic regulatory engagement plan to enable enhanced dialogue with in-region industry and regulatory groups.
- Develop standard work elements for communication on key topics through the enterprise team.
- Bachelor's degree in engineering from an accredited university or college.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in Systems Engineering.
- Master's degree in Engineering, Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics or Computer Science from an accredited university or college.
- Excellent interpersonal, organizational, communication (verbal, written, and oral), and leadership skills with ability to simplify complex concepts.
- Ability to work effectively with all levels of the organization including the business leadership team, external partners, and customers.
- Familiarization with LEAN principles and concepts to deliver results.
- Excellent business acumen and strategic thinking to assess and identify implications of regulatory and aviation industry trends.
- Demonstrated ability to analyze and resolve problems including leading programs to successful conclusion.
- Awareness of certification, airworthiness and validation procedures for commercial engine or aircraft programs.
- Expertise in US 14 CFR Part 21, 25, and 33 and EASA CS-25 and -E regulations or other non-US aviation regulations.
