Position Overview

We are seeking a motivated and experienced General Manager to join our team. The General Manager is responsible for overseeing all aspects of the dispensary's operations, ensuring an exceptional customer experience, driving financial performance, and maintaining compliance with all relevant laws and regulations. This role involves leading and developing a team, optimizing operational processes, and implementing strategies to achieve business objectives.

Responsibilities:Operational Excellence

  • Operations:
    • Oversee day-to-day dispensary operations, ensuring efficiency, productivity, and adherence to company policies and procedures.
    • Develop and implement standard operating procedures to optimize workflow and enhance operational efficiency.
    • Monitor and manage inventory levels, coordinating with inventory and fulfillment teams to ensure accurate tracking and timely replenishment of stock.
    • Supervise and train dispensary staff, ensuring adherence to company policies and procedures.
    • Lead and motivate a team of staff to achieve performance targets and sales goals.
    • Provide coaching, training, and development opportunities to enhance the skills and capabilities of team members.
    • Foster a culture of collaboration, accountability, and continuous improvement within the production team.
  • Process Improvement:
    • Identify opportunities for process improvement and implement changes to enhance efficiency, reduce costs, and improve overall operations.
    • Stay informed about industry trends and best practices, incorporating relevant innovations into the dispensary’s operations.
  • Team Leadership:
    • Lead and inspire a diverse team of front-of-house and back-of-house staff, fostering a positive work environment and promoting a culture of teamwork and collaboration.
    • Provide clear direction, guidance, and feedback to employees, setting performance expectations and holding team members accountable for their responsibilities.
    • Conduct regular team meetings to communicate goals, expectations, and updates, fostering a collaborative work environment.
    • Implement performance management processes, including regular evaluations, feedback sessions, and development plans for team members.
  • Staff Training and Development:
    • Develop and implement comprehensive training programs for new hires and ongoing professional development opportunities for existing staff.
    • Identify and nurture talent within the team, providing opportunities for advancement and skill enhancement through cross-training and specialized training initiatives.
  • Performance Management:
    • Conduct regular performance evaluations and constructive feedback sessions with employees to recognize achievements, address areas for improvement, and support career growth.
    • Utilize performance metrics and feedback from customers to evaluate team performance and identify areas for enhancement in service quality and efficiency.
  • Conflict Resolution:
    • Proactively address conflicts and interpersonal issues among staff members, utilizing effective communication and conflict resolution techniques to promote a harmonious work environment.
    • Act as a mediator in resolving disputes between staff and ensure that grievances are addressed promptly and fairly in accordance with company policies and procedures.
  • Inventory Management:
    • Monitor inventory levels and assist with ordering and receiving products.
    • Maintain a clean and organized store environment, following state regulations and company standards.
  • People Operations Management:
    • Develop and implement training programs to onboard new employees and ensure ongoing professional development.
Customer Experience

  • Exceptional Service:
    • Ensure a consistently high level of customer service by training and coaching staff on best practices for customer interaction and service delivery.
    • Address and resolve customer inquiries, concerns, and feedback promptly and professionally, ensuring a positive and memorable shopping experience.
    • Develop and implement customer retention strategies, such as loyalty programs and special promotions, to increase customer satisfaction and loyalty.
  • Product Knowledge:
    • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of cannabis products, strains, and industry trends to provide accurate information and recommendations to customers and staff.
    • Ensure staff are well-informed and trained on product knowledge and customer service techniques.
  • Customer Engagement:
    • Foster a welcoming and inclusive atmosphere within the dispensary, ensuring customers feel valued and respected.
    • Organize and oversee customer engagement initiatives, such as events, workshops, and educational sessions, to enhance the customer experience and build community relations.
Finance and Market Share

  • Financial Management:
    • Develop and manage the dispensary’s budget, including revenue and expense forecasting, to achieve financial goals and targets.
    • Monitor financial performance, analyze sales data, and implement strategies to drive revenue and profitability.
    • Ensure accurate cash handling, transaction processing, and financial reporting, minimizing discrepancies and financial losses.
  • Sales Performance:
    • Set and achieve sales targets, developing and implementing sales strategies to boost revenue and enhance the dispensary’s market share.
    • Promote featured products, specials, and promotions to increase sales and attract new customers.
  • Market Analysis:
    • Conduct regular market analysis to identify trends, customer preferences, and competitor activities, adjusting strategies to stay competitive and capture market share.
    • Collaborate with the marketing team to develop and implement marketing and sales initiatives that align with business objectives.
Safety and Compliance

  • Regulatory Compliance:
    • Ensure strict adherence to all state and local regulations governing the sale and distribution of cannabis products.
    • Maintain meticulous records of all sales transactions, inventory movements, and compliance documentation to ensure audit readiness.
    • Regularly review and update compliance policies and procedures to stay current with changing regulations and industry best practices.
  • Safety Protocols:
    • Implement and enforce safety protocols to ensure a safe and secure environment for customers and staff, including emergency procedures and incident reporting.
    • Conduct regular training sessions for staff on compliance, safety, and security procedures to ensure full compliance with all regulations.
  • Documentation and Reporting:
    • Prepare and submit required reports to regulatory authorities in a timely and accurate manner.
    • Conduct regular audits and inspections to ensure compliance with all safety and regulatory requirements.
  • Compliance Adherence:
    • Ensure compliance with all state and local cannabis regulations, including tracking sales and inventory data accurately.
    • Ensure compliance with relevant labor laws, regulations, and company policies throughout the hiring process.
    • Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of all recruitment activities, including applications, resumes, interview notes, and hiring decisions.
  • Onboarding and Orientation:
    • Develop and deliver onboarding programs to welcome and integrate new hires into the organization.
    • Coordinate orientation sessions to familiarize new employees with company policies, procedures, and culture.
    • Provide necessary training and resources to support new employees in their roles.
Hiring and Recruiting

  • Hiring and Recruiting:
    • Review incoming applications and resumes to identify qualified candidates.
    • Screen candidates based on job requirements, skills, experience, and cultural fit.
    • Schedule and conduct interviews with selected candidates.

Qualifications

  • Proven experience in a management role, preferably in the cannabis industry or retail sector.
  • Strong knowledge of cannabis products, strains, and industry trends.
  • Excellent leadership and team management abilities.
  • Exceptional customer service and communication skills.
  • Financial acumen and experience with budgeting, expense tracking, and financial reporting.
  • Familiarity with state and local cannabis regulations and compliance requirements.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Familiarity with state and local cannabis regulations.
  • Detail-oriented with excellent organizational skills.
  • Must be 21 years of age or older.
  • High school diploma or equivalent; additional education or training in business management or related field is a plus.

Additional Notes

The job requires physical activity, including prolonged standing, repetitive bending, walking, and lifting or moving up to 40 pounds (or more with a co-worker). Good visual acuity, hand-eye coordination, manual dexterity, and ability to perform repetitive motions with accuracy is required. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.

This job requires completion of an Illinois Department of Financial & Professional Regulation (IDFPR) background check and badging process. You must have a valid state-issued ID and social security card to submit to the IDFPR's process.
