Job Description
The Discipleship Director serves as the primary leader for adult discipleship at a Mariners congregation. With the support of the Congregation Lead Pastor, this person will be a leader, unifier, and multiplier of what God wants to do in and through the people of their congregation. Through recruiting and leading a team of volunteers, the Discipleship Director will be responsible for the following:
Adult Discipleship: Develop and lead other volunteer leaders to ensure adults are growing together toward Christlikeness, biblical dependency, and gospel-centrality through Groups (Rooted Groups, Life Groups, Courses, Men, Women, etc.). Create a multiplying, disciple-making expectation within the church body.
Outreach: Serve as the liaison between the people of the congregation and the central Mariners Outreach team who will provide local, city, and global serve opportunities. Strive to build a culture in which Life Groups regularly serve together to reach people for Christ and meet the needs of those around them.
Volunteer recruitment, training and equipping: Lead your leaders, both staff and volunteers in the process of developing leaders and volunteers; Work with central leadership teams to build passionate, aligned, Christlike volunteer teams.
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree plus 3-5 years of ministry related work experience.
Facilitate small group discussions and bible studies.
Demonstrated ability to develop volunteers.
High degree of integrity in personal and professional life
Excellent communication skills - verbal, written, and relationship.
Demonstrated ministry leadership experience, experience in a church or para-church organization preferred
High degree of bible literacy, seminary degree is a plus
Experience and knowledge in leading multiple teams, multi-campus ministry experience is a plus
