Job Description
We are seeking an experienced director/VP of biology and pharmacology to lead the in vitro and in vivo characterization of novel small molecules to support a growing pipeline. The successful candidate will be a confident leader with prior success in translational drug development in oncology and/or immunology. As the leader of Biology, you will join a dynamic team of scientists and assume a leadership role in advancing small molecule drug discovery programs in the clinic.
Responsibilities
Define and execute the company’s discovery biology and pharmacology strategy.
Direct the in vitro characterization efforts of pipeline program compounds.
Direct preclinical in vivo efforts to characterize the activity and PK/PD properties of pipeline program compounds from discovery to IND-enabling studies.
Build and lead a high-performing group of talented scientists.
Work closely with the company’s SAB and other key stakeholders to advance our pipeline programs.
Author or contribute to study reports, regulatory submissions, and abstracts/manuscripts for publication.
Qualifications
Ph.D. in cell biology, biochemistry, pharmacology, or related discipline with at least 8 years of relevant industry experience.
Successful track record leading drug discovery programs by leveraging industry-standard models and tools.
Scientific leadership experience coordinating research teams (external academic, CRO, internal) working concurrently on multiple projects.
Experience in oncology and/or immunology.
Adaptability and flexibility to work in a dynamic startup environment.
