Lead an integrated support team that helps to significantly improve the overall functioning of the Tech Ops organization. Deliver on the Tech Ops Strategy development and drive Tech Ops continuous improvement efforts.

What You'll Do

  • Demonstrates the highest level of ethics and integrity
  • Responsible for delivering overall roadmap of Tech Ops transformation, driving innovation.
  • Develop and execute a comprehensive strategy for operational execution and efficiencies aligned with organizational goals, leading the implementation of tools, technology, and process changes in collaboration with the Operations Teams.
  • Develops and executes the operational excellence/continuous improvement strategy related to the execution of work in the operation.
  • Help our operational teams drive for operational excellence by providing support that enables them to meet ops performance targets (related to delays, cancellations, deferred maintenance, and out-of-service aircraft)
  • Supports the operations teams in achievement of improved productivity and efficiency through the deployment of basic tools, building expertise in the AGILE Operating Elements.
  • Responsible for project governance to ensure projects are delivered and implemented on time.
  • Identify and lead the future focus of work and team member/leader readiness.
  • Champion the adoption of digital tools that enhance collaboration, communication, and data-driven decision-making. Strong partnership with Product Management to support the IT Product Model
  • Maintain excellent relations with represented and non-represented employee groups.
  • Develop a strong, collaborative, diverse team that cares for our front-line team members.
  • Be a passionate advocate for strengthening AA’s Safety Culture, focusing on developing and supporting safety programs that prevent employee injuries and minimize aircraft/equipment damage events.
  • Assess short-term and long-term impact of proposed program, policy, or philosophy changes and ensure that all Tech Ops programs and policies comply with applicable Code of Federal Regulations and company standards.
  • Drive Operational Excellence: lead efforts to optimize processes within the Tech Ops Organization, collaborating with cross-functional teams to enhance efficiency and effectiveness

All you'll need for success

Minimum Qualifications- Education & Prior Job Experience

  • Demonstrates the highest level of ethics and integrity
  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, Business Administration, Aviation related field, Process Management, or equivalent knowledge/experience
  • 7 years of progressive leadership experience, workgroups with cross-functional teams
  • Previous experience leading and implementing large-scale cross-functional projects
  • Strong understanding of the Product model
  • Experience collaborating with the Product Management team to deploy IT products.
  • Action-oriented, results-driven leader with a natural aptitude for engaging employees
  • Strong planning/organization skills with the ability to manage multiple projects successfully
  • Effective problem-solving, collaboration, interpersonal, and decision-making skills
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to effectively communicate a clear strategic and tactical vision to all levels within the organization

Preferred Qualifications- Prior Job Experience

  • Ability to lead, motivate, coach, and counsel a diverse staff and frontline team
  • Ability to build collaborative relationships with, and consensus amongst, multiple stakeholders with varying points of view
  • Ability to display key attributes required by American Airlines: Personal integrity, respect for others and their opinions, inclusive, team-oriented, adaptability, positive, and optimistic
  • 5 years of experience in airline operations, with previous experience in airline technical operations preferred

Skills, Licenses & Certifications

  • Demonstrated knowledge or experience of Six Sigma tools, including statistical process control (SPC), control charts, failure mode and effects analysis (FMEA), and process mapping.
