Reporting to the National Director, Strategic Fundraising Communications, the Director, Strategic Fundraising Communications - Stewardship will serve as a key partner in the creation of donor-centric messaging for stewarding donors across fundraising verticals. The Director will lead the development of timely and high-quality fundraising stewardship communications that convey the relevance, and impact of donor support toward advancing Breakthrough T1D’s mission.

Critical to these efforts, the Director will partner broadly with fundraising and program-area leaders across the organization to design and execute fundraising stewardship communications collateral for donor engagement and stewardship strategies. The Director will partner with the Marketing & Communications department to make sure all materials are aligned with Breakthrough T1D’s look, feel, tone and strategic communications priorities.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborates with supervisor and AVP, Donor Engagement in the development of annual stewardship communications plans.
  • In collaboration with supervisor and stewardship staff, designs and executes stewardship communication materials for principal level giving society (One Society): impact pieces, event invitation content, talking points, follow-up reports and publications.
  • Writes, generates content for and project manages the development of stewardship reports for donors across fundraising levels.
  • Oversees process for annual stewardship impact reports for major gift donors.
  • Writes collateral materials for campaign and other VIP fundraising events including invitation and program copy, speaker scripts, etc.
  • Manages the donor acknowledgement process, updating letters and other correspondence annually.
  • Manages donor stewardship communication in CRM database (add tasks and actions for special donor recognition, annual stewardship impact reports and stewardship communications/TY letters).
  • Identifies, recommends and coordinates opportunities for increased relationship-building through donor outreach and fundraising communications; creates language, messaging, and templates for internal use as appropriate.
  • Supports the development and execution of various stewardship correspondence and other communication touchpoints on behalf of the CEO, Chief Global Development Officer, and other internal stakeholders.
  • Supports the development of talking points for various audiences that is consistent with campaign tone, priorities and messaging.
  • Partners with the Marcom team to ensure all fundraising communications are aligned with our organizational brand and broader communications priorities.
  • Reviews and edits written materials to ensure quality and consistency.
  • Works, if/as needed, with outside vendors–designers, other writers, printers on the design and production of donor communication materials.
  • Manages production of various fundraising communication products concurrently; coordinates reviews by key stakeholders and incorporates feedback, oversees schedules, and adheres to deadlines.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • 7 years of professional experience in development communications, marketing, or related field. (Experience in fundraising or nonprofit management preferred).
  • Excellent communication skills, including writing, editing, proofreading and verbal.
  • Experience preparing PowerPoint presentations, talking points, and other materials for various audiences. Excellent project management skills and attention to detail; ability to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced environment.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel & PowerPoint). Experience with Salesforce or other database platforms.
  • Ability to serve as a strategic thinker, capable of providing proactive solutions to challenges and opportunities. Ability to work with stakeholders at all levels – including leadership, development officers and volunteers.
  • Strong interpersonal and relationship-building skills, and ability to form and sustain working relationships within a complex organization.
  • Experience demonstrating accountability and follow-through.
  • Ability to maintain strict confidentiality and data security.
  • College degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Target Salary - $88K - $120K

The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
