Position Overview

At Alkami the Director, Software Engineering will be a hands-on technical leader with .NET technologies providing direction and leadership to their technical teams. They will provide leadership and management to assure the team achieves product development goals that support company business objectives. In addition, they will be responsible for creating an environment that maximizes team retention and job satisfaction. The Director, Software Engineering will participate in the overall management of the engineering team and provide stakeholder visibility and clarity of the team's goals.

Key Responsibilities & Duties

• Lead, manage and grow multiple teams of product focused software engineers
• Mentor and guide the professional and technical development of engineers in your team.
• Work with product owners to understand desired application capabilities and testing scenarios - Continuously improve software engineering practices
• Work within and across Agile teams to design, develop, test, implement, and support technical solutions across a full-stack of development tools and technologies
• Lead the craftsmanship, availability, resilience, and scalability of your solutions
• Bring a passion to stay on top of tech trends, experiment with and learn new technologies, participate in internal & external technology communities, and mentor other members of the engineering community
• Encourage innovation, implementation of cutting-edge technologies, inclusion, outside-of-the-box thinking, teamwork, self-organization, and diversity
• Work across to improve the velocity of your and other teams
  
  

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science or related technical field involving coding (e.g., physics or mathematics), or equivalent technical experience
• At least 10+ years experience in hands-on software development in a large enterprise or SaaS software company
• At least 5 years experience with leadership and management
• Must have disciplined engineering background with experience in successfully delivering major product releases over multiple time periods with high quality
• Demonstrated ability to build, mentor and coach high-performing teams to meet professional and performance goals, cultivate strong relationships with team members.
• Prior experience leading a team and developing products within a multi-tenant Cloud/SaaS environment running in a major cloud provider (AWS/Azure/GCP)
• Ability to work within broad corporate objectives to define functional goals, steering strategic workforce planning, creating and communicating consistent standards of performance and creating a high performance driven culture
• Experience working in an agile and fast paced environment
• Outstanding written and verbal communication skills and superior presentation abilities, with the capacity to communicate with a variety of audiences, from internal stakeholders to managers, staff, customers, partners and analysts
  
  

Desired Skills

• 5+ years .NET Framework, C# or equivalent experience
• 3+ years of leading modern development approaches (containerization, cloud, continuous delivery, micro-services, modular reactive web applications)
• Understanding of ORM frameworks (such as ADO.NET Entity Framework, LINQ to SQL, or NHibernate)
• Experience working with relation database including writing queries, stored procedures, creating tables, indexes and foreign keys
• Active within the tech community (speaker at events/meetups, blogging, open source contributor)
