Director, School Training (High School-Greenspring Campus)

The Director, School Training will work in collaboration with organizational and school leadership to ensure that mission critical training is provided to all special education employees. Additionally, this position will engage with organizations of higher education to provide improved employee access, support employee experience, and to facilitate the exchange of evidence-based practices.

  • In collaboration with department leadership, develop and implement a comprehensive program of training for all new and current department staff.
  • In collaboration with department leadership, develop, and implement a system of fidelity monitoring and retraining for key training components delivered to new and current department staff.
  • In collaboration with department leadership, develop and implement a system for the creation, review, implementation, maintenance, and fidelity monitoring of Individualized Professional Development Plans (IPDP) for all licensed educators in the department.
  • In collaboration with department leadership, develop and maintain an inventory of Maryland State Department of Education (MSDE) approved professional learning in the 4 required areas, whether created by Kennedy Krieger School Programs and available either locally or virtually.
  • In collaboration with department leadership, develop comprehensive systems and procedures to support required portfolio assessments for licensed educators in the department.
  • Maintain, update, and develop training regarding all special education policy, procedures, and operational guidance documents in collaboration with the Assistant Vice President, Operations and Assistant Vice President, Admissions, Compliance, and Transition,.
  • In collaboration with Special Education leadership and the Human Resources department, serve as a liaison to higher education to support the Pathways to Higher Education Program for department education employees.
  • In collaboration with department leadership and the Office of Training Administration, supervise the process of placing trainees and interns within the Special Education department.
  • At the direction of the Vice President for Special Education, act as a Primary Investigator within the Special Education department.
  • At the direction of the Vice President for Special Education, act as a liaison to the Special Education Center of Excellence.
  • Develop and implement a comprehensive written report on each aspect of the above duties to be delivered to department leadership on a quarterly basis.


QUALIFICATIONS

Must achieve and maintain Professional Crisis Management (PCM) certification at the “Practitioner” level (or higher) according to the timeline established by the department. The department will provide opportunities for training and certification.

EDUCATION

  • Master’s degree in special education or a related area is required.
  • Terminal degree preferred.


EXPERIENCE

  • Minimum ten years of related experience, to include
    • Five years of experience in special education teaching required.
    • Minimum three years of administrative experience is required.
