Position Information

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field or an equivalent combination of education and/or experience.
  • A minimum of seven (7) years’ experience leading a campus recreation and wellness organization, including experience with multiple facilities and programs, staff supervision, and budget management.
  • Proven ability in leading organizational transformation.
  • Ability to demonstrate knowledge of the importance of health, wellness, recreation, and fitness to a campus community as well as an understanding of the theories, principles, assessment and practices of student development and higher education administration.
  • Strong communication, organizational, fiscal, analytical and relationship building skills with the ability to work collaboratively with university leadership and with key campus and community partners.

Desired Qualifications

  • Master’s degree.
  • Ten (10) years experience in collegiate recreation programming and administration.

Unless otherwise required by an applicable collective bargaining agreement, all minimum, additional and desired qualifications are preferred, but qualifications, degrees, and/or experience deemed comparable and/or equivalent by Oakland University in its sole and exclusive discretion may be considered.

Position Purpose

Provide leadership, oversight and administration for staff, facilities, activities, programs, services, budget and capital projects for University Recreation and Well-Being in manner that meets the needs of the University and external community, aligns with the Recreation and Well-Being’s goals and advances the University’s goals, strategic priorities, mission and vision.
