Summary

The Director of Public Safety at Grady Health System assumes a senior-level role responsible for designing, directing, and evaluating programs, processes and protocol, aimed at ensuring the physical safety and security of patients, visitors, and employees throughout the entire health system. As a member of the management team of Grady Health System, contributes to organizational improvement and efficiency, to the development of Health System policies and procedures and to the implementation and monitoring procedures based on the mission and goals of the Health System. Additionally, this position extends its purview to support and oversee the infrastructure that includes information technology, access control, and operational technology associated with surveillance and physical screening systems for the Grady Hospital.

Qualifications

  • Required: Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in criminal justice, business management, political science etc.
  • Preferred: Master’s degree in the humanities, public administration, or similar discipline. As an alternative to the educational preference, the ideal candidate will possess extensive experience and an executive leader/manager in a federal, state or municipal law enforcement agency.
  • Required: 10+ years of leadership experience in Public Safety/Security, preferably with prior experience in a healthcare environment.
  • Preferred: Exceptional interpersonal skills, with extensive experience in communicating with a diverse audience, including patients, visitors, employees, and physicians from varied social and economic backgrounds.
  • Required: Knowledge, skills, and practical experience in safety management. Demonstrated leadership competencies associated with achieving results and exhibiting proper behaviors and values.
  • The Director of Public Safety is an armed position; therefore, the selected candidate must be able to meet the firearms qualification standards of the Georgia Secretary of State, State Board of Private Detectives and Security agencies (In-house armed security officer standards).
