We’re looking for an experienced Director of Product Design to lead a team of talented product designers in crafting world-class software that our customers will adopt and love.

You will be responsible for designing and scaling a Product Design organization that can reshape fleet maintenance. You will lead the overall software design direction and strategy of our products, and be accountable for the end-to-end Fleetio user experience.

Who You Are

You are a visionary and passionate design leader eager to guide a product design team transforming the future of fleet optimization. You’re a user-centered, analytical, creative and strategic problem solver who can communicate with ease, simplify amidst complexity, and influence positive change. You will report to the VP of Product, and collaborate with leaders across Fleetio’s world-class organization on strategy, planning and execution.

Your impact

  • Own the end-to-end Fleetio user experience.
    • Drive our UX vision and elevate our “Design DNA.”
    • Ensure high-quality work aligned with our mission, product vision, and goals.
    • Lead strategy for design system, design ops, user research, and content design.
    • Enable us to craft remarkable and intuitive user interfaces.
    • Define, track, and act on UX metrics.
  • Empower a high performing team.
    • Drive the results, productivity, and efficiency of the PD team.
    • Steer UX operations and process.
    • Foster team member development and career growth.
    • Remove blockers and encourage collaboration across teams.
    • Generate UX impact by working closely with cross-functional leaders and stakeholders.
    • Communicate, present and defend design solutions, incorporating feedback into the design cycle.
    • Implement practices, tools, processes, and systems for continuous discovery and delivery.
  • Raise the bar across our products
    • Advocate for user-centered product roadmaps, interface guidelines, design patterns, and user insights.
    • Develop deep empathy for our customers and use research to inform design solutions.
    • Engage with customers to deeply understand their needs, goals, pain points, workflows, and operations.
    • Leverage data to understand how product changes affect user behaviors and attitudes over time.
    • Stay up-to-date with the latest design best practices, trends, tools, and technologies, applying them to our product design process and culture.
Your Experience

  • 10+ years of experience in product design, with 5+ years managing and mentoring SaaS design and UX professionals.
  • Expertise in leading and mentoring teams of 10+ product designers and UX roles, fostering a healthy environment for optimal work.
  • Proven track record hiring, growing, and retaining great design and UX talent.
  • Exceptional communication, collaboration, leadership, and strategic thinking and design skills.
  • Strong ability to apply user-centered design principles to complex software products with attention to detail.
  • Effective storytelling skills for design concepts, ideas, decisions and solutions to stakeholders at all levels.
  • Experience designing across web and mobile.
  • Experience working with cross-functional teams, to define product design strategy and roadmaps.
  • Stellar product sense and appreciation for great design.
  • Embody our values of intelligence, intensity, integrity, and ownership.
  • Champion a commitment to high quality, velocity, customer-centricity, and impact.
  • BA/BS degree in a related field, such as interaction / product / graphic design, communications, or human-computer interaction.
  • Figma plus other tools.

Considered a Plus

  • Understanding of the Fleet management industry.
  • Experience in SaaS and Marketplaces.
  • Experience across multiple segments — e.g. SMB, MidMarket, Enterprise, large Partnerships.
