About The Role

Reporting to the Head of Procurement, the Director of Procurement Center of Excellence will be responsible for shaping the vision, strategy, and execution of procurement center of excellence initiatives across the organization. This role has a large focus on driving the function forward & supporting Gap Inc’s NextGen Procurement transformation, advancing cross-functional engagement, and serving in “look behind the horizon” capacity for the organization.


The Director will engage and establish strategic partnerships with leadership in varied functions to collaborate, influence, and proactively drive procurement influence and processes. The Director will focus on the development, implementation, and execution of sourcing strategies and processes across Indirect Procurement, to enable a competitive advantage and maximize the functional ROI for Gap Inc. The leader in this role will also be responsible for building the CEO team’s capabilities to enable continuous advancement of the procurement function at Gap Inc.


What You'll Do

  • Lead NextGen Procurement transformation program to advance function from execution focused to high-performing category management with consistent top value delivery across all spend categories to maximize functional ROI and deliver against the three-year roadmap. Set up and lead an integrated PMO.
  • Build out and grow core functional capabilities: of the Procurement Center of Excellence including category management framework, spend analytics, procurement operations and support, comprehensive communications planning and execution, market intelligence and insights, go-to-market strategies, events, e-Auctions, sustainability, and supplier diversity programs, learning and development of team members, and project planning and savings tracking.
  • Build and strengthen strategic relationships: successfully partner across functions (Transformation, Strategy, Operations, Finance, Shared Services, Legal, and ESG) and partner with senior internal stakeholders, external suppliers, and colleagues to drive results and facilitate complex change management across the enterprise.
  • Develop and maintain in-depth spend analytics, category segmentation and data cleansing to enable opportunity mining, category management and real-time predictive analysis. Implement and maintain up to date analytics tools and capabilities.
  • Define procurement performance targets: to help the team achieve value goals across overall balanced scorecard based on five value pillars: Profitability, Growth, Service, Supply Assurance and ESG.
  • Track overall Procurement savings and approvals: Conduct regular pipeline reviews with procurement leadership, category leads and business stakeholders. Report value capture across holistic KPI system, vetted and aligned with the Business outcomes.
  • Advance Long Range Planning (LRP) and Annual Operating Plans (AOP) with the focus on transformation, value capture, and innovation as the key strategic pillars.
  • Develop and roll out Supplier Management Program to advance strategic partnerships and unlock value-add. Design the necessary processes and source / implement system capabilities.
  • Develop Risk Management and BCP programs in partnership with Internal Audit. Design the necessary processes and source / implement system capabilities.
  • Oversee the procurement process and develop policies, identify opportunities for process streamlining and efficiency gains, ensuring compliance with company standards and regulatory requirements
  • Leverage strong influencing skills: balance speed, different priorities and urgency while proactively considering new alternatives and driving critical thinking to optimize results
  • Function as a change agent: champion change initiatives within the procurement function and promote adoptions of new tools, processed and methodologies
  • Build COE team: focusing on core capabilities and talent development


Who You Are

  • 10+ years of experience in Strategic Sourcing, Supplier Management, or Consulting, with at least 5 years in a leadership role.
  • Prior experience leading complex Procurement transformation initiatives in Fortune 500 companies with matrix organization. Prior management consulting experience is a plus.
  • Strategic Orientation: experience leveraging business acumen, market intelligence, and insight to drive broad strategic impact across a business.
  • Sourcing Capability: experience driving long-term results through category strategies, levering in-depth market knowledge, collaboration and influencing at all levels of a global organization.
  • Change Leadership: Experience leading with and without authority to influence others and drive decision-making. Always driven by questions what if? and why not? Six Sigma or similar certification is a plus.
  • Drive for Results: Demonstrated ability to effectively navigate and lead others in an ambiguous environment to achieve elevated levels of performance and deliver sustainable results to the organization.
  • Exceptional project and program management skills.
  • Visionary, curious, and collaborative mindset with excellent executive level communication and presentation skills.
