Job Description


Whole Foods Market seeks an accomplished leader to guide our Business Analytics and Pricing Strategy team toward sustainable growth and development. This role is aimed at an individual with significant experience in Retail Analytics, capable of developing strategies and providing data-driven insights for pivotal business decisions. The primary responsibility involves leading our team to establish and execute an analytics and insights roadmap across key business areas, including overall performance, customer and marketing effectiveness, competitive intelligence, and pricing strategies.


The role is centered on leading efforts that deliver actionable insights to our business partners while enhancing our suite of self-service tools. Ideal candidates will have a comprehensive understanding of the grocery retail sector, demonstrate strategic business insight, possess strong analytical and communication skills, and be driven to develop a leading analytics and insights function.


This position is integral to the Pricing, Data, and Analytics team at Whole Foods Market and reports to the Vice President of Pricing. Your leadership will be instrumental in shaping our approach to business analytics and in fostering a culture of innovation and data-driven decision-making.


Responsibilities

  • Lead the Business Analytics and Pricing Strategy Execution organization, driving a strategic approach to accelerate growth.
  • Serves as a key leader and thought partner of the broader analytics team. Makes and influences strategic decisions for driving business performance.
  • Act as the analytics owner for topline business, customer, marketing, pricing, and promotion insights programs.
  • Manage the planning, execution, and delivery of assigned analytical projects to achieve business, customer, and financial results
  • Translate data into clear, persuasive reports and presentations for senior leadership
  • Ensure effective and efficient delivery of all teamwork products and hold the team accountable to high-performance standards
  • Recommend and build business insights to support the prioritization of new projects and strategies to drive program results
  • Analyze and synthesize various data sources to explain drivers of business performance and inform both tactical and strategic marketing decisions
  • Work closely with stakeholders, translating business questions into analyses that inform business decisions, bringing functional expertise, and appropriate data and information
  • Work cross-functionally with partners in Marketing, Finance, Operations, Merchandising, Product, and/or Technology teams to define program strategy and execution
  • Gives back to the analytics community and beyond. Supports the development of team members across the organization. Brings new perspectives on analytics and challenges others to raise the bar on thought leadership.

Who you are:

  • With a BA/BS degree plus eight years of relevant experience, or an equivalent mix of education and expertise, you're the strategic navigator for our team. Your analytic acumen is sharpened by four-plus years in retail analytics, specifically within category insights for merchant leaders, and leadership experience spanning four to six years.
  • Academically rooted in Statistics, Economics, Mathematics, Finance, or a related analytical business specialty, your preferred Bachelor's credentials are complemented by experience in assortment planning, field retail, merchandising, or inventory management. An MS or MBA is a significant advantage, underscoring your deep knowledge of grocery retail.
  • Your executive presence is unmistakable, particularly when presenting to senior stakeholders. With a talent for transforming complex business data into streamlined, compelling narratives, your storytelling prowess captivates both technical and non-technical audiences alike.
  • Your customer service orientation is exceptional, with responsiveness, organization, and timely communication at its core. You're a collaboration catalyst, developing solutions to analytical questions and challenges alongside cross-functional teams.
  • Your commitment to team development is proven with a hand in designing and executing succession, recruitment, and development processes. As a strategic advisor, you influence senior leadership thought, particularly around merchandising strategies and performance expectations.
  • Your bias for action is evident, proactively identifying and dismantling roadblocks. With meticulous attention to detail, you intuitively grasp the strategic business implications at play.
  • Fluent in the language of data, you adeptly manage multiple projects, balancing creativity with problem-solving. You're a change champion, inspiring organizational strategy and influencing its trajectory.
  • Equipped with a nuanced understanding of Whole Foods Market, the food retail industry, and competitor business models, you're well-versed in WFM transaction, product hierarchy, store, and customer data, leveraging analytical tools to develop pricing and category insights.
  • Based in Austin, TX, you're open to traveling up to 20% of the time to engage with key stakeholders, operational area offices, or store locations, bringing your strategic vision to every corner of our operation.
