Job Summary:

The Director, Patient Access is responsible for the daily operations and leadership of the Patient Registration, Patient Admissions and Pre Access areas throughout the hospital system. The Director works collaboratively with the Patient Financial Services, Cash Management, HIM, Revenue Cycle, physicians, and health system leadership to establish goals that align with organizational strategy and identified objectives. The Director identifies and implements performance improvement processes, and ensures adherence and compliance with regulatory standards, directives, requirements and other operational guidance.

Job Description:

  • Directs daily operations of Patient Registration, Patient Admission and Pre Access services
  • Responsible for daily operational oversight for Patient Access areas and the quality and cost- effectiveness of services delivered in these areas
  • Responsible for registration across many locations within the hospital system including other hospitals, surgery departments and locations
  • Coordinates Patient Access with all other patient care services to assure the smooth integration of an interdisciplinary approach to quality patient services
  • Assures effective communication within and between work areas to achieve positive patient outcomes
  • Monitors and evaluates the effectiveness of existing programs and recommends changes to meet current and long-range goals
  • Oversees all related training programs and materials for entire hospital system
  • Provides leadership and oversight to assigned areas of responsibility
  • Develop and implement metric-driven solutions with high focus on customer service, continual improvement and process redesign
  • Works collaboratively with organizational leadership to ensure goals and objectives are achieved
  • Coordinates the development and implementation of systems related to patient access and scheduling
  • Oversees operational team employee annual review; ensures employment practices are compliant with state and federal laws, regulations, standards and guidelines
  • Reviews and presents ongoing audits, reports and metrics for areas of responsibility
  • Provides policy interpretation; monitors policies and procedures for effectiveness; and recommends and develops new policies and makes recommendation for change to existing policies
  • Provides strategic and financial planning for areas of responsibility
  • Prepares, administers, and monitors annual operating and capital budgets
  • Oversees schedule management, financial management and reconciliation including budget review and variance reporting
  • Ensures recommendations regarding department activities, operations, and expansions are consistent with goals, objectives, and mission of Memorial

Required Qualifications:

Education: Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration, Healthcare Administration or similar focus

Experience: Ten (10) years of progressive experience in a Patient Access environment for a hospital or healthcare system, with three (3) years of management or supervisory experience
