Job Description

The Director of Academics and Student Athlete Support will report directly to the Deputy Athletic Director/SWA. This position will oversee academic support within collegiate athletics as well as work collaboratively with support staff campus wide.

Essential Duties And Responsibilities

Some of the major responsibilities include:

  • Oversee the Academic Support Services Office in the Athletic Department
  • Monitoring and supervising academic progress of all student-athletes through one-on-one meetings, coordination of support services and academic evaluations to professors.
  • Coordinate and prescribe support systems and services for student-athletes (i.e., tutoring, learning disabilities, counseling, academic support courses, study hall, etc.)
  • Managing the student-athlete travel dismissal systems and collaborate with professors when necessary
  • Serve on the Concussion Protocol Management Team and collaborate with Sports Medicine and Learning services as needed.
  • Serve on the MountCares Committee as the Athletic Department representative
  • Attend Retention Meetings as needed
  • Be an active member in the Academic at Risk Meetings that occur throughout the semester (3-4 meetings per semester)
  • Event Planning for Student-Athlete Development in relation to Career & Leadership Skills
  • Serve as the primary Administrator overseeing SAAC (Student Athlete Advisory Committee) and attend meetings regularly
  • Assist with the collection, validation and submission of data required for the NCAA APR and GSR academic reports as well as recertification of academic eligibility each semester as directed by the Assistant Athletic Director for Compliance and Associate Athletic Director for Academics and Student Athlete Support.

Job Requirements: Education, Experience and Skills:

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree
  • 4 Years of Experience Preferred in Higher Education or College Athletics
  • Ability to finish tasks in a timely manner and work independently.
  • Must be a Team Player
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
  • Knowledge of NCAA rules and regulations
