The Director of Social Services assumes the lead role in the delivery of psychological, financial, religious and physical needs of the resident, family members and significant others. The DSS assures that the resident’s needs are met in accordance with the mission statement, philosophy, policy and procedures of the facility. The Director of Social Services promotes a team concept with other departments and disciplines through demonstrating good interpersonal skills. Services will be provided in accordnace with the National Association of Social Workers (NASW) Code of Ethics along with strict adherence to government regulations
The DSS must have skills in communication, assessment, and social work methods and techniques. Some of the DSS responsabilities are to assists with in-home or in-hospital pre admission assessments as needed, serves on Admission Committee, attnds Resident Care Conference Reviews, and Updates Resident Care Plan Documents according to Federal, State, and Health Care Quality regulations.
