Domaine is in search of an experienced Director of Sales Engineering and Business Solutions to join our team and spearhead the evolution of the department. The Director will define the department's goals, objectives, processes, and integration into sales and project teams. We are seeking an individual to lead the team, taking ownership of the entire technical solutioning, sales scoping process, and integration technology analysis for the agency. This role requires blending technical architecture with integration partnerships to create thoughtful client experiences. The Director will leverage expertise to collaborate with customers, comprehending their business processes, requirements, and needs to provide recommended solutions for complex enterprise projects.

Responsibilities

  • Bridge the gap between sales and delivery, ensuring scoped solutions meet client needs and set expectations for successful project delivery.
  • Leverage in-depth market knowledge and insights to identify trends, opportunities, and potential challenges, paving the way for a strategic pre-sales process.
  • Translate market understanding into tailored pre-sales strategies, ensuring alignment with client business objectives, and providing a clear project scope that aligns with both client expectations and the capabilities of the project team.
  • Demonstrate a proven track record of delivering solutions that not only meet but exceed client expectations, showcasing the ability to align the pre-sales process with successful project outcomes.
  • Review and document requirements, lead technical calls, and assess engineering effort levels.
  • Gather specific requirements through effective questioning.
  • Develop a hypothesis for the development approach, identifying risks and potential pitfalls early in the solutioning process.
  • Collaborate with other Heads of Practice to align on roles and responsibilities within the department and projects.
  • Develop and standardize processes related to pre-sales scoping, business requirements, solutioning, scope management, and other department responsibilities.
  • Identify opportunities to enhance efficiency and quality within department responsibilities.
  • Lead and develop Business Solution team members.
  • Serve as an industry leader in eCommerce and platform best practices, guiding both client and internal teams in prioritization.
  • Facilitate discovery sessions, guiding client stakeholders through conversations to understand requirements and business needs for eCommerce site functionality and integrations.
  • Gather, evaluate, and document business needs, translating them into functional specifications, user stories, and acceptance criteria.
  • Collaborate with business, technical, and user experience stakeholders to manage requirements throughout the development cycle.
  • Provide leadership, guidance, and mentorship to a team of business analysts to support Project Managers to ensure scope is managed across the project, aligning creative and development teams.
  • Guide organizational change initiatives by effectively communicating the rationale behind business solutions, addressing stakeholder concerns, and providing support and training as needed to ensure successful adoption.

Skills & Experience

  • 5+ years of Solutions / Technical Architecture and Sales Engineering experience
    • Experience breaking down a complex project into individual parts
    • Ability to explain how each component is vital to the overall success of the project
    • Confidence in presenting technical project details to both prospective clients and internal team members
    • Understand the e-commerce industry and how to architect complex solutions that involve all of our favorite three letter acronyms: ERP, OMS, PIM, WMS, etc
    • Experience scoping both Back-end and Front-end technical architecture
    • Experience writing proposals
  • 2+ years of Team Management experience
    • Recruit, mentor, and develop a high-performing team of Solution Architects and Business Solutions Engineers.
    • Foster a culture of accountability, collaboration, and professional growth within the team.
    • Conduct regular performance reviews and set clear goals for team members.
  • Strategic thinking and ability to problem solve
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • eCommerce experience, specifically with experience in Shopify and Shopify Plus
  • Services agency experience
  • Ability to work on numerous different assignments at one time with demonstrated follow through, attention to detail and commitment to customer service
