Director of Sales

Coastal Television is looking for an experienced and dynamic Director of Sales to lead our Fargo and Duluth broadcast, digital, and OTT sales teams. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in sales management with a proven record in successfully driving revenue growth at both the local and national levels and a keen understanding of political advertising.


Here’s What You’ll Do:

  • Lead and manage the sales teams in the Fargo, ND, and Duluth, MN markets.
  • Develop innovative sales initiatives and campaigns to capture market share and increase revenue.
  • Foster a high-performance sales culture, setting clear expectations and providing regular feedback and coaching to sales staff.
  • Drive revenue growth by identifying and capitalizing on new business opportunities.
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with key clients and stakeholders.
  • Oversee sales activities (including digital), ensuring alignment with company objectives and market needs.
  • Manage and grow national sales accounts, leveraging relationships with national agencies and clients.
  • Oversee political advertising sales, ensuring compliance with all regulations and maximizing revenue during election cycles.
  • Work closely with other departments, including marketing, programming, and finance, to ensure cohesive and effective sales strategies.
  • Provide regular reports on sales performance, market trends, and competitive analysis to senior management.
  • Conduct market research to identify trends, and opportunities, and gain an understanding of the competitive landscape.

  • Proven track record of success in national and political advertising sales.
  • Personable, creative, strategic, and passionate about sales.
  • You can inspire confidence, enthusiasm, and trust and create a winning sales culture.
  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to inspire and motivate a sales team.
  • Familiar with political advertising regulations for candidates.
  • Managerial track record with strong communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills.
  • Excellent understanding and application of digital marketing capabilities.
  • Ability to analyze data, identify trends, and make informed decisions.
  • Knowledge of regulatory requirements for political advertising is a plus.



Qualified candidates must be very knowledgeable in basic and advanced techniques of selling television and digital advertising. They also must be computer-proficient with the various television sales software systems, as well as Microsoft Word, Excel & PowerPoint, and have strong verbal/written communication skills.



To be strongly considered the best candidates “MUST HAVE” these qualifications.

Minimum of 5 years of experience in sales management, preferably in broadcast sales.


  • Prior business development and managerial experience is necessary.
  • A bachelor’s degree from an accredited college/university in business, marketing, or a related field.
  • A valid driver's license and the ability to consistently drive your vehicle to and from client meetings.
  • Be 18 years or older.
  • Unrestricted work authorization to work in the United States.

In addition to an exciting career, the successful candidate will receive a competitive compensation package based on their skills and work experience (approximately $120K base salary, plus an opportunity for an additional $16K in bonuses). We offer health, dental, and vision insurance. An allowance for relocation expenses is available.
