This role encompasses a wide range of responsibilities, including leadership, management, goal setting, and policy development. Leadership and management duties involve recruiting and training a high-performing team. With the authority to make hiring and firing decisions, provide training, and establish objectives for each team member, the incumbent will play a crucial role in establishing and organizing a successful nationwide sales team. Management and goal setting will entail setting sales targets across the country, fostering relationships with division and branch managers to understand sales requirements and operational limitations, setting objectives for each region, and ensuring that the sales team is focused on achieving these targets. Policy development will involve collaborating with corporate and divisional management to formulate and solidify sales policies, compensation structures, bonus programs, and sales processes company-wide to drive success. This approach will foster innovation within the sales team and empower the role to build a robust team and design processes and policies necessary to achieve company-wide objectives. As policies are established and implemented, enforcing the standards and objectives within them will ensure a consistent brand experience nationwide and across sales teams and divisions. While this position will contribute to pricing decisions for the company, final pricing determinations are subject to approval by the Pricing Committee and the Chief Operating Officer.
Job Tasks
Develop and implement new sales processes and policies for the company, including defining the individual roles of sales staff, transitioning them into their new roles, and coming up with a new compensation program for sales staff that leads to overall higher bottom line profits for the company
Manage the day-to-day duties of the nationwide sales team to ensure that they are following the established sales processes and policies for the company and achieving established goals
Work with the divisions on coming up with annual sales budgets for services based on operational constraints and approved pricing
Set quarterly and annual sales goals in collaboration with division needs by service type and production goals
Establish quantitative goals and metrics for the sales team and motivate the sales team to achieve these goals
Gather and monitor information on the markets and competitor products, prices and activities, and report this information back to the Pricing Committee
Review customer activity, anticipate needs and improve customer satisfaction
Advise on customer requests and needs to ensure our competitiveness
Assist and manage key accounts directly as needed
Work collaboratively with management and Corporate Procurement to develop new markets, products, equipment and services
Work with the Marketing / Public Relations team to ensure we have consistently branded materials to meet the sales team’s needs
Provide timely and effective solutions aligned with client needs
Perform market research to identify new potential customers and market opportunities
Negotiate and close agreements with customers to transfer over to account managers (located at the local, divisional and national levels)
Job Requirements
Promen work experience as a manager, director or VP of sales leading a team of at least 10 direct reports
Experience managing a high performing sales team
Knowledge of CRM software and the Microsoft Office suite
Ability to understand and analyze sales performance metrics
Solid customer service attitude with excellent negotiation skills
Ability to read, analyze and cooperate with Legal on agreements and language negotiations
Strong communication and management skills
Analytical skills with a prob
