Salary range from $65,000 - $75,000
Hyatt Place Portland Old Port is a highly regarded property in our area looking for a motivated, organized Director of Rooms to join our team. The Director of Rooms is accountable for the operations of the Housekeeping and Maintenance Departments, overseeing and delegating tasks to associates to guarantee that guestrooms, public spaces, and associate areas are clean and well-maintained. They conduct inspections and enforce accountability for corrective actions. The Director provides leadership and guidance, aiming to improve the Commonwealth Culture and ensure uniformity within the Housekeeping and Maintenance Departments. They also ensure adherence to property standards and Commonwealth Hotels policies, while delivering quality customer service, enhancing guest satisfaction, and optimizing departmental efficiency and cost control. Experience in a management role overseeing housekeeping staff or a similar role is required. We highly encourage you to apply if you have excellent communication skills and leadership experience.

Some Key Areas of Responsibility for the Director of Rooms include:
Acts as Executive Housekeeper
Guest Scores – Cleanliness and Working Order scores are at or above goal.
Carry out thorough building inspections to ensure high quality of repair and maintenance and that they meet set standards.
Department Budgets – expenses and wages are in line with budget.
Associate Engagement – plans and actions implemented and measured.
Hires and schedules training for new associates and maintains associate files to CHI standards.
Mentors and Supervises the Department Manager and Supervisors.
Approves schedules for staff according to standards and forecasted occupancies.
Conducts performance evaluations that are timely and constructive.
Control’s payroll costs through proper use of Labor tools and its reports.
Administers property policies fairly and consistently; disciplinary procedures and documentation are completed according to Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
Works with Chief Engineer to maintain department equipment and supplies using Hyatt system.
Learns and leads, training team on Brand computer systems.
Requirements for the Director of Rooms include:
High school diploma, G.E.D., or equivalent
Minimum of two years’ experience in hotel management as an Executive Housekeeper or Assistant Executive
Impeccable work ethic and excellent organizational, time management, and communication skills
Applicants must be able to work weekends & holidays
