Sunseeker Resort Charlotte Harbor is currently searching for a Director of Resort Special Events!
The Director of Resort Special Events is responsible for curating, organizing and leading programs that will be held in various resort venues including but not limited to convention and event meeting space, hotel common areas, restaurants and bars, boardwalk promenade, resort pools, and golf course. This position will provide an elevated level of guest experience, working closely with both our internal and external customers to sell Special Events services and execute the overall special event calendar for the resort. This position will collaborate and work closely with the Sales, Catering, and Operations teams to ensure efficient space management and utilization. The Director of Resort Special Events will report directly to the Executive Director of Food & Beverage.
All duties are performed in accordance with department and Sunseeker Resorts policies, practices and procedures.

The Director of Resort Special Events is responsible for curating, organizing and leading programs that will be held in various resort venues including but not limited to convention and event meeting space, hotel common areas, restaurants and bars, boardwalk promenade, resort pools, and golf course. Job Duties
- This role will be instrumental in brainstorming and developing/creation of the resort’s special events calendar on a rolling 12-month cycle and recommend and execute on specific events
- Create, manage and report budgets & actual expenses on events, along with assisting in the preparation and review of event pro-forma
- Will play a key role in achieving Special Event revenue goals and budgets and will actively work to maximizes the full revenue potential for the assigned space
- Will create and ensure contracted business BEO’s are accurate and distributed timely for advanced planning by the operations teams to properly execute on the event functions
- Collaborates with all operational departments on property who support each event and provides clear and concise flow of communication that ensures each department understands their support role in an event to achieve maximum success
- Applies and manages the resorts overall service strategy and brand initiatives in all aspects of the sales and event programming process
- Drives customer loyalty and satisfaction by delivering guest service excellence throughout each guest service experience
- Ensures the property is apprised of all events and activations that will impact property operations and ensures the various departments that need to support these functions clearly understand their role to ensure event success
- This position will work to network, develop, and grow local activations and social business for the resort
- Will be held accountable for the departments overall guest service standards and operational expectations
- Develops working relationships with outside vendors and establishes prices and service agreements to enhance the event experience and to increase additional revenue opportunities for the property
- Will assist the Director with overall hotel programming schedule as it relates to music in venues, holiday activations, and holiday décor
- Deliver on key strategies of guest service, employee relations, and team cooperation
- Works closely with catering and convention services on event and room layouts and participates in proper submission and approval by the fire inspector for various events
- Properly communicating event space requirements to the Group Restaurant Sales Manager so that space is appropriately secured for events
- Exercise discretion and independent judgment when evaluating new programs, new services and new ideas
- Stay abreast of property goals in order to create, support and present departmental goals to executive leadership
- Continue to learn and be on the forefront of new technology for the hotel industry
- Create ways to further enrich the guest experience by continuously reviewing, implementing and refining procedures to ensure every opportunity to offer extraordinary guest experiences while maintaining a culture of smiles, retention of luxury standards
- Proactively seek guest feedback and liaise with other departments when opportunities present themselves ensuring a seamless and elevated guest experience
- Manage guest requests and own all complaints; resolve issues immediately and follow up to ensure the guest’s satisfaction
- Develop collaborative relationships and synergy with all support departments such as Convention Sales & Services, Facilities, Security, Front Services, Front Office, F&B, Golf Course and Executive Offices
- Foster a management team that possesses and delivers on key strategies of guest service, employee relations, team cooperation, financial responsibility and asset management
- Ensure all accounting, payroll and employee relations matters are handled in compliance with company policy
- Perform other functions as needed

- Bachelor’s degree in Hotel and Restaurant Management, Hospitality, Business Administration, or related professional area.
- 3 years’ minimum experience in event management, special events, food and beverage, sales and marketing, or related professional area.
- Versed Food & Beverage background demonstrating previous successful experience in Banquets and Special Events
- Previous experience in a resort or hotel setting highly preferred.
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office, Delphi, Micros Symphony
- Valid driver’s license and clean driving record required.
- Ability to work varied shifts, including weekends and holidays
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Ability to adapt communication style to suit different audiences, such as effectively communicating with supervisors, coworkers, public etc.
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office.
- Strong team player with a results-oriented attitude. Excels in a collaborative environment working well with others for a common goal.
- Excellent time management and organizational skills.
- Strong work ethic, leadership ability, business acumen and financial management skills, sound judgment superior problem solving and decision-making skills.
- Ability to multi-task and work independently in a fast-paced environment.

- Ability to work varied shifts, including weekends and holidays.

- Excellent organizational, analytical and project management skills, with particular attention to quality and detail.
