Director of Quality Assurance at Seemann Composites responsible for overseeing the quality assurance efforts within the company with focus on the implementation, certification and sustainment of an AS9100 / ISO 9001 Quality Management System. The Director of QA will have responsibility to manage the planning, developing and directing of quality assurance policies, programs and initiatives and oversees the quality control efforts within the company including inspection and testing requirements and oversight of the company NDT Program.

Seemann Composites has an opening for a Director of Quality Assurance at our facility in Gulfport, MS. The work will include interfacing with the executive team, engineers, IPT members and production floor toward accomplishing the project objectives. The Director of QA will have supervisory responsibility of the Quality Control Manager and personnel and any Quality Specialist personnel.

Job Requirements:

  • Responsible for the content, implementation and sustainment of the company Quality Management System and associated training.
  • Lead efforts to successfully maintain AS9100 / ISO 9001 certification.
  • Responsible for scheduling and leading internal audit program and performing audits on a periodic basis and reporting findings to SCI Leadership Team. Responsible for training of SCI internal auditor team.
  • Responsible for Customer Service and Quality Interface including support of customer site visits, and leading onsite Quality Audits. Maintain Customer Complaint process and reporting.
  • Responsible for maintaining Supplier Compliance, including new supplier process, supplier renewal audits and certifications and quality approval of Purchase Requisitions.
  • Maintain Property Management System (e.g. government property, customer furnished property) and lead all property audits.
  • Oversight of measuring and monitoring calibration system
  • Maintain and report all company metrics and progress toward Quality Objectives.
  • Lead the Management Review meetings with executive and leadership teams.
  • Maintain the SCI document Control system Q-Pulse.
  • Responsible for the oversight of the Quality Control Manager and personnel and any Quality Specialist personnel.
  • Lead root cause, corrective and preventive action investigations and follow up as required.
  • Collaborate with various functions to assure compliance and continuous improvement.
  • Support the Quality Engineers as needed in quality planning and the development of Quality Plans.
  • Supports operations on the shop floor. Frequently on the floor observing manufacturing processes, reviewing MIPs and assisting manufacturing as needed.


Required Skills And Competencies

  • Bachelor’s Degree in an applicable field or equivalent experience and certifications.
  • 10-15 year minimum experience in the quality assurance and inspection field
  • Demonstrated track record of quality system implementation and sustainment and certifications.
  • Experience in leading 3rd party audits (Registrar or Customer) and internal quality audits.
  • Trained or certified in process improvement techniques including lean manufacturing six sigma tools.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills required to interface with functional team members, executive management and customer representatives.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint)
  • Experienced in leading and mentoring others.
  • This position requires the use of information which is subject to the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR).
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a US DoD Security Clearance.
  • Due to the nature of our work, United States Citizenship or Permanent Resident (Green Card) is required.

Essential Physical Requirement:

Working in a manufacturing or warehouse environment, you will be walking, standing and engaging in movement throughout the day, and occasionally to frequently be required to lift items weighing up to 50 lbs. Due to a large variety of job duties (both routine and non-routine), certain duties also may involve, a variety of physical activities including bending, stretching, lifting, stooping, turning, twisting, pushing, pulling, raising arms above shoulders and head, standing working in enclosed areas, climbing stairs or ladders, and operating heavy equipment. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus. The noise level in the work environment can vary but noise is usually low to moderate.

You may be required to wear personal protective equipment such as safety glasses, safety gloves, hearing protection, a respirator or dust mask, protective footwear and protective clothing or uniforms. Work may be performed in cold and/or hot temperatures and the environment can be dusty. Physical requirements further include the ability to engage in productive collaborative communication with co-workers and work may need to be performed during non-standard hours, including nights and weekends. At times, the ability to work overtime also may be required but it is not usual.
