Director of Public Relations

LHH is currently recruiting for a Public Relations Director for our client in the Houston, TX area. The ideal candidate will have at least 8 years of public relations, media relations, and crisis communications experience preferably within the healthcare industry. This is an onsite role at our client’s office in the Houston area.

Responsibilities:

• Develop and execute comprehensive public relations strategies to enhance the organization’s brand image and reputation
• Identify opportunities to promote the organization’s achievements, services, and community impact
• Collaborate with external PR agencies when needed to execute strategic initiatives
• Cultivate and maintain strong relationships with local, regional, and national media outlets
• Act as the primary spokesperson for the organization, preparing and delivering statements, press releases, and media briefings
• Monitor media coverage and respond to media inquiries
• Develop and implement crisis communication plans to address potential issues and mitigate risks
• Lead the crisis communication team during emergencies, ensuring timely and accurate dissemination of information
• Train staff on crisis communication protocols and best practices
• Oversee the creation of press releases, media kits, speeches, and other PR materials
• Collaborate with the marketing team to produce compelling content that aligns with the organization’s messaging and goals
• Maintain brand guidelines across all communications
• Monitor the effectiveness of PR campaigns and initiatives, using analytics to and feedback to refine strategies
• Prepare regular reports on PR activities and outcomes for senior management

Qualifications:

• 8-10 years of communications experience
• Proven track record in public relations, media relations, and crisis communications
• Healthcare industry experience highly preferred
• Bachelor’s degree in public relations, communications, journalism or related field
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Strong media relations skills and network of media contacts
• Ability to work onsite in Houston, TX
