Director of Procurement

Kinsa is recruiting for a: Procurement Director - Produce

Location: Viselia, CA, USA (100% Onsite – relocation provided)

Our client is a large member organization serving grocers throughout the US by providing group purchasing. They are looking to add a Procurement Director (specializing in produce) to their Viselia, CA office (onsite, relocation assistance provided). Reporting to the Vice President, the Director will deliver exceptional value to their member companies. Your responsibilities will include strategic sales, marketing, and procurement plans, as well as develop relationships with new members and strengthening relationships with existing members. Additionally, you will manage and mentor a high-performance team including procurement and logistics.

• Bachelor’s degree, MBA preferred. 10+ years retail/wholesale/foodservice produce experience. 5+ years supervisory experience.

Key Responsibilities and Goals:

• Develop and manage sourcing, category, logistics, and operations team based in the Visalia, CA office.
• Achieve membership, sales, profit and expense budgets. Manage operating budgets and controllable expenses.
• Teach, train and mentor team. Identify and develop talent.
• Drive employee engagement by creating an environment of collaboration and accountability.
• Lead, support, and enhance relationships with existing, new, and prospective members. Increase produce business through category and program development.
• Visit members regularly, online or in person.
• Present and develop strategic commodity plans and sourcing plans.
• Support recruitment of member participation into Produce programs.
• Enhance value proposition to members through collaboration with strategic supplier partnerships.
• Identify and evaluate new potential suppliers to lower costs, improve logistics and increase penetration with members.
• Collaborate with Quality Assurance to ensure that food safety requirements and compliance goals are met.
• Support and develop category management reviews and recommendations to new and existing members.
• Support development and implementation of new items.

Competencies Needed for Success:

• Bachelor’s degree, MBA preferred.
• 10+ years retail/wholesale/foodservice produce experience.
• Understanding of global logistics & QA
• 5 years supervisory experience (5+ direct reports)
• Comprehensive understanding of global produce supply chain.
• Strong business acumen.
