About the role

Our organization has grown exponentially and as a result we have expanded our print operations to multiple sites with the potential to add more in the coming years.

You will be responsible for the end-to-end management of the print operations of the western United States and our newest facility in Tempe, Arizona. This includes managing operational budgets, developing forecasts and capacity models, personnel management, standardizing workflows and processes, developing programmatic quality assurance practices, equipment purchases, and meeting production KPI’s.

Specifically, you will be responsible for:

• Developing and maintaining capacity models for operational throughput forecasting considering personnel and equipment
• Ownership of OPEX for print and postage
• Submission and management of USPS mail discount programs
• Direct responsibility for a full-time staff of printing professionals and part-time seasonal
• employees
• Providing strategic input regarding equipment/software needs and other opportunities for growth
• Building and maintaining vendor relationships, especially relating to raw materials (i.e paper) and equipment service providers, and negotiating purchase pricing
• Collaborate with product and engineering teams to integrate new technology

About You

We are looking for a hands-on Director of Print Operations to oversee and grow our direct mail print operations. The right individual will have a bias towards action and understand what it means to move fast, pivot, have a growth mindset, collaborate cross-functionally, and bring people together towards a common goal.

Job Requirements

• As we interview candidates for this role, we will be using a framework that seeks to evaluate in terms of their ability to perform the role and best meet the description outlined above in “About You”. Beyond that, there are few other key items we require in candidates for this role:
• 5+ years of print and direct mail operations experience
• Strong technical knowledge of digital and offset printing and binding operations
• Experience working directly with commercial printers, logistics companies, and USPS
• Requires up to 50% overnight travel depending on location
