Scion Nonprofit Staffing has been engaged to conduct a search for aDirector of Park Experience and Operationsfor our client, a local Nonprofit organization dedicated to creating and caring for a renewed place of community connection for downtown Seattle. This is an exciting, direct hire opportunity based in Seattle, WA.

As theDirector of Park Experience and Operations, you will help to develop a seamlessly functional and enjoyable outdoor space in Seattle that is safe and welcoming for all people.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Responsibilities:

  • Center, translate, and embed DEI values and goals into all facility operations.
  • Ensure planning and implementation efforts benefit and are informed by the individuals, partner organizations, and communities the organization seeks to serve.
  • Prioritize DEI goals and values when hiring and contracting externally.
  • Participate in DEI workshops and lead regular discussions with staff, board, and partners.

Park Facility Operations Leadership:

  • Scale operational requirements and execution according to the citys Performance Standard guidelines.
  • Direct and elevate evolving Standard Operating Procedures for the organization.
  • Manage annual operating budgets ranging from $4-8 million.
  • Implement a scalable Public Safety Plan for up to 150k patrons on peak season days.
  • Oversee event operations for large-scale events internally or by outside partners.
  • Direct units led by managers or supervisors in Facilities Operations, Emergency Services, and Guest Service Ambassadors.

External Partnerships:

  • Serve as primary liaison to operations leads at partner Nonprofit organizations.
  • Establish and coordinate a park operations task force to engage partners in mutually informed planning and execution.
  • Direct evaluative strategies and integrate data collection efforts relative to operations and public safety.

Internal Team Development:

  • Build and lead a team with practical skills and experience to meet the organizations performance standards.
  • Ensure the team reflects and responds to the diverse needs and experiences of visitors.
  • Communicate expectations clearly to the operations team, providing regular positive and constructive feedback.
  • Prioritize, coordinate, and respond efficiently to inter-departmental operational needs in collaboration with other directors.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • 6+ years of Director of Operations experience in either public spaces of facilities.
  • 3 - 5 years of Supervisory experience
  • Demonstrated commitment to incorporating DEI practices and values into all facets of work and life.
  • Knowledge of public safety management and campus-wide security procedures.
  • Ability to navigate a unionized environment and political and financial systems.
  • Experience with labor relations and contract negotiation/management.
  • This position is contingent on passing a criminal background check.

COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS:
