Director of Operations

Fusion has an exciting opportunity for a Multi Location Director of Operations. Fusion is a wholly owned entity of The Vomela Company. As one of the leading visual communication providers in the country, we produce a vast array of print and digital screen solutions. Fusion specializes in the Event, Exhibit, Retail, and C-Store industries with the ability to design, produce and install. We have advanced print, fabrication, and project management capabilities. Our product lines are very diverse. Fusion is an industry leader in dye sublimation fabrics, SEG, backlit and tension fabric structural designs, digital media offerings, UV rigid substrates, large vinyl and mesh applications, fleet and vehicle graphics, and so much more.

This position is responsible for overseeing production personnel, equipment, fabrication, and materials to meet customer quality standards and deadlines. Provides communication to all other department managers. Supervises department managers and interacts regularly with them to improve upon the workers’ production capacity. Invests in training, new technology and equipment. Oversees materials and product quality. Establishes standards, procedures and goals to gauge production costs and worker efficiencies.

Responsibilities


  • In coordination with divisional leadership and location operations leaders, identify a future state that evolves the division’s operating capabilities in line with the sales and market direction.
  • Coordinate with divisional VP and sales management team on production priorities.
  • Coordinate production among multiple facilities to best utilize capacity, expertise and meet customer needs.
  • Monitor Purchasing controls and tracking of COGS per department.
  • Oversees maintenance of machinery in all production department.
  • Maintains schedule to meet customer deadlines through utilization of equipment and personnel. Approves overtime and vacation as necessary.
  • Oversees upkeep and repair of all production equipment: receives daily updates from supervisors on equipment status; schedules major repairs with sales and production so customer deadlines will not be missed; verifies with supervisors that all mechanical and electrical safeties are operational at all times; orders outside maintenance and equipment through the purchasing manager as needed; ensures that all safety bars and guards are in operating condition at all times.
  • Directs activities of production: allocates daily projects as well as short and long-term goals; provides answers to procedural and technical questions; meets with production employees individually and in groups to discuss problems; reviews all production records daily and forward to appropriate supervisor; reviews completed work and work in progress for quality; reviews employee performance and wage increases; resolves problems between and within departments.
  • Provides technical assistance: keeps informed of new products, materials, and technology; provides production, purchasing, and sales feedback on problem materials, and supplies, and equipment; provide personnel with technical information and in-plant training.
  • Prepares and manages annual budget: prepares annual budget for President to review; reviews monthly costs with supervisors; meets with vendors to get samples of supplies; reviews supply usage, researches ways to reduce costs and improve productivity and quality.


Requirements


  • Bachelor’s degree in Operations, or equivalent experience.
  • 5+ years’ experience in production or operations management experience in the print or graphics industry.
  • Experience in pre-press, scheduling, and production planning.
  • Experience in digital printing preferably dye sublimated fabrics.
  • Experience in the production of tradeshow/event/retail graphics and structures helpful.
  • Ability to travel up to two weeks per month to production facilities.
  • Ability to improvise and think outside of the box to resolve issues.
  • Demonstrated skills of managing large complex projects.
