Director of Operations

Anomalo United States

About Anomalo

Data management solutions accounted for more than one-fifth of all enterprise infrastructure spend in 2021. The “modern data stack” promises a centralized data platform for powering valuable new applications, from AI-powered products to real-time analytics.

Unfortunately, a big problem stands in the way of most data projects and products – the issue of data quality. Rules-based data quality approaches that worked when data was small and tightly controlled don’t scale. And with more data sources, transformations, and users, quality issues are multiplying fast. The vast majority of issues go uncaught—until they lead to an expensive fire drill.

Anomalo is the automated AI solution that plugs directly into the modern data stack and automatically monitors tables for a wide range of data quality issues. Our software uses unsupervised learning to catch deep problems in the data, like sudden changes in the distribution, that aren’t covered by static rules or basic observability. With built-in root cause analysis, Anomalo shows not only whether data is anomalous but also why and what the impact is. This prevents data issues from reaching dashboards, reports, and products, while data teams spend less time debugging and more time building.

We’re rapidly growing and work with some of the biggest brands leveraging data today, like Block, Discover Financial Services, Buzzfeed, and Notion. The company has raised a total of $72M seed through Series B funding and is backed by top-tier venture firms like SignalFire, Norwest Venture Partners, Databricks Ventures, Foundation Capital, Two Sigma Ventures, and First Round Capital.

Anomalo is building the platform that data-driven companies need to be able to make good data-driven decisions, and would love to have you join for the ride.

At Anomalo, we're on the lookout for a dynamic and strategic Director of Operations to join our innovative and growing team. This role offers an unparalleled opportunity to own and drive a diverse array of high-impact projects, both independently and collaboratively across multiple departments. You will lead initiatives that shape the future of our organization, ensuring seamless integration and execution of strategic goals. This is your chance to be at the forefront of our growth journey, making a tangible impact while working alongside a passionate team dedicated to revolutionizing data quality and reliability.

What you’ll do as the Director of Operations at Anomalo:

  • Streamline Operations: Take over and streamline priorities currently managed by the Chief of Staff. Build processes from scratch (0 to 1) to solve critical problems and ensure smooth transitions for others to take over.
  • Cross-Departmental Collaboration: Support functional leaders in various projects, including Sales, Revenue Operations, Business Development, Finance, Marketing, HR, and Engineering. Ensure tools and tracking systems are in place for each project, and develop repeatable processes where possible.
  • Project Management: Manage monthly, quarterly, and annual tasks for our SOC2 review, ensuring a smooth and turnkey process. Help plan our quarterly on-sites in new locations each time. We’ve been to San Diego, Denver, Charleston, Chicago, Austin, and Barcelona. Where will we go next?
  • Problem Solving: Tackle both complex and repetitive tasks with resourcefulness and creativity. You don’t need to do all the things but you should come up with a solution that can be automated, outsourced, or delegated in a way that maintains efficiency and adds value.
  • Strategic Initiatives: Lead key projects that span multiple departments, ensuring alignment with organizational goals and seamless execution. When we see a need that sits at the intersection of multiple teams, the Director of Operations will often be tapped to lead the charge.

What you’ll bring to the team:

  • Hands-On Execution: Demonstrate self-driven urgency, focus, hustle, and follow-through.
  • Automation Focus: Identify repetitive tasks and automate wherever possible.
  • Process Development: Excel at building and documenting processes, ready for immediate handoff.
  • Innovation: Thrive in taking initiatives from zero to one, comfortable with uncertainty and without a playbook.
  • Ownership: Embrace full ownership and responsibility for results.
  • Versatility: Be a utility player willing to tackle any task and motivated by solving important problems.
  • Organization: Exhibit exceptional detail orientation, organization, and multitasking abilities.
  • Prioritization: Our team likes to say yes but we know how to say no. We have a large number of potential projects so come in, pick up the highest priority, and get it done.
  • Startup Enthusiasm: Excited about the potential of joining an early-stage startup.
  • Professionalism: Interact with customers and partners, representing Anomalo with polish and professionalism.
  • Low Ego: Willing to do the work and step aside when it makes sense for others to take over.

Ideal candidates will also have:

  • Experience in a high-growth startup environment.
  • Strong background in strategic planning and execution.
  • Familiarity with data quality and reliability tools and practices.

Salary Range:

  • The estimated annual salary range for this role is $180,000 - $220,000 plus meaningful equity. Please note we can only consider applicants who are based in the United States.

Benefits:

  • A best in class benefits package including: unlimited time off, comprehensive medical, dental, and vision, fertility and family planning coverage, mental health and wellness coverage, quarterly offsites in exciting destinations to spend time with your colleagues.
