Director of Operations and Automation

LHH Recruitment Solutions is partnering with a manufacturing company in SE Portland, OR on a Director of Operations and Automation job. You have a production background with continuous improvement experience related to manufacturing operations. You have taken a manufacturing environment from mostly manual processes to almost fully automated processes. You have played a pivotal role in optimizing operations, driving efficiency, increasing capacity, and expanding business opportunities. Responsibilities:

• Lead the redesign and enhancement of the manufacturing processes to optimize throughput, reduce waste, and increase equipment capacity.
• Act as the central point of contact for operational direction, ensuring alignment with company brand, culture, and quality standards.
• Implement automation solutions to improve manufacturing efficiency and integrate technological advancements into production processes.
• Provide strategic leadership to a team focused on operational excellence, including automation, equipment management, food safety, and quality assurance.
• Utilize data-driven insights to make informed decisions and innovate flexible operational processes aligned with short and long-term business goals.
• Collaborate closely with departmental leaders and stakeholders to ensure consistent strategy execution and effective communication across teams.
• Develop and present comprehensive quality reports, analyzing operational KPIs and manufacturing metrics to drive continuous improvement.

Qualifications and Experience:

• Bachelor’s in Engineering, Supply Chain or similar preferred.
• 3+ years of experience in operational leadership or CI roles, with a strong emphasis on strategic leadership and team management.
• Proven track record as a change agent, adept at project management, critical thinking, problem-solving, and effective communication.
• Willingness to travel between domestic sites (up to 50%) and meet state regulatory requirements.

Skills:

• Demonstrated experience implementing manufacturing automation improvements
• Strong Excel and ERP skills
• LEAN, Six Sigma and/or other operational excellence methodology training or experience

About the role:

• Full Time, Direct Hire
• Mon – Fri; 8a-5p
• 100% on site with flexibility; 50% travel to company locations domestically
• Comp / Benefits – 150-180K DOE; employer/employee supported medical, dental and vision plans, unlimited paid time off, and 401k with company match
