Moorings Park is looking for a Director of Music Therapy. The Director of Music Therapy is responsible for performing assessments and identifying physical, psychological, or medical limitations of the residents to create therapeutic group sessions. Therapist will have the ability to develop an initial and on-going treatment plan, in collaboration with the resident, family, and other members of the interdisciplinary team.
Contributions
Assess residents for their response to musical interventions and create goals/interventions within the plan of care established in collaboration with the interdisciplinary team.
Provides regular music therapy visits to residents in caseload, creating and implementing appropriate musical interventions.
Engages in new program development and implementation.
Educates residents and partners on the benefits of music therapy.
Comply with applicable federal, state, and local laws, rules, and regulations; maintains knowledge of and follows all company policies and procedures.
Obtain knowledge and demonstrate the principles of Moorings Park, person directed care and successful aging philosophies and their inherent core values of commitment, respect, compassion, dedication, teamwork, and quality. Team member will support, actively participate, and act in accordance with the principles of the Moorings Park service culture and be familiar with and fluent in the language and service pillars of Moorings.
Job Requirements
Excellent oral and written communication skills in the English language required
During emergencies or natural disasters may be required to be on duty for the duration of the disaster.
Bachelor’s degree or higher in music therapy from a college/university program approved by the Certification Board of Music Therapist (CBMT) and the American Music Therapy Association (AMTA)
Must have MT-BC (Music Therapist – Board Certified, credential provided by the Certification Board of Music Therapist.
Certification in Basic Life Support (CPR and AED) on hire or within the first 90 days
Minimum of 1-year professional music therapy experience in a health related, CCRC, and/or hospice setting preferred
