ABOUT THE POSITION: The Manufacturing Operations Director plays a critical role in overseeing and optimizing the US manufacturing operations within the company. This role involves strategic planning, resource management, process improvement, and ensuring the highest standards of quality and efficiency are maintained throughout the manufacturing process.

The successful candidate will collaborate with cross-functional teams, including sales, product management, production, engineering, quality control, logistics and distribution, to achieve organizational goals and objectives.



RESPONSIBILITIES:

Strategic Planning:

  • Develop and implement strategic plans for manufacturing operations in alignment with executive leadership and overall company objectives.
  • Identify opportunities for improvement and growth within manufacturing processes.
  • Collaborate with sales and product leadership to support market trends and customer demands to anticipate future manufacturing needs.
  • Collaborate with executive leadership to align manufacturing goals with the company's overall business objectives.

Operations Management:

  • Oversee day-to-day manufacturing activities to ensure production targets are met efficiently and effectively.
  • Optimize production schedules and resource allocation to maximize productivity.
  • Maintain and improve quality control measures to ensure products meet or exceed industry standards.

Team Leadership:

  • Provide strong leadership to the manufacturing team, fostering a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
  • Set clear goals and objectives for the manufacturing department and monitor progress towards achievement.
  • Foster a culture of continuous improvement, teamwork, and accountability within the manufacturing department.

Cost Management:

  • Develop and manage budgets for manufacturing operations, identifying cost-saving opportunities without compromising product quality.
  • Monitor and analyze key performance indicators (KPIs) to assess operational efficiency and financial performance.

Continuous Improvement:

  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives within the manufacturing department to enhance efficiency, quality, and customer satisfaction.
  • Utilize data analytics and performance metrics to identify areas for improvement and track progress over time.
  • Foster a culture of innovation and experimentation to drive breakthrough improvements in manufacturing processes and technologies.

Regulatory Compliance:

  • Ensure compliance with all relevant regulatory requirements, safety standards, and environmental regulations.
  • Work closely with regulatory affairs and compliance teams to address any issues or changes in regulations.


SKILLS/PERSONAL QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Proven experience in manufacturing management, with a track record of success in driving operational excellence and achieving results.
  • Strong leadership and management skills, with the ability to motivate and inspire teams to achieve their full potential.
  • Excellent problem-solving and decision-making abilities, with a data-driven approach to problem-solving.
  • In-depth knowledge of manufacturing processes, quality control principles, and regulatory requirements.
  • Familiarity with Lean manufacturing principles, Six Sigma methodologies, and other process improvement techniques.
  • Outstanding communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively collaborate with cross-functional teams and stakeholders.
  • Proven track record of driving cost reductions, process improvements, and operational efficiencies.
  • Strong business acumen and strategic thinking skills, with the ability to align manufacturing operations with overall business objectives.


EDUCATION AND CERTIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, business, or a related field (Master's degree preferred).


PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

The person in this position needs to occasionally move about inside the office to access filing cabinets, meeting rooms, copier/printer, etc. as well as having the ability to remain in a stationary position most of the time.

  • Must be able to communicate effectively with team members, candidates, and external partners through multiple forms of technology with telephone and computer. Must be able to receive and convey information.
  • Must be able to safely navigate the production facility, OSHA compliant. Normally this person is standing or walking around the facility interacting with team members. Appropriate shoes for standing on concrete flooring is recommended.
  • Repetitive motions such as bending, lifting, and turning
  • Required to lift, retrieve, or reposition products weighing up to 60 pounds.


WORK ENVIRONMENT:

  • Works in manufacturing & office environments. The noise level in the facility is usually moderate. Up to 50% of travel to manufacturing facilities.
