Position Summary
The Director of Manufacturing will be responsible for overseeing and managing all aspects of Revolution Space manufacturing operations. This Director will be a key member of Revolution Space’s Leadership Team reporting to the Chief Operating Officer and collaborating with the Chief Technical Officer. This role will have a broad accountability and impact during the upcoming high growth stage on our path to becoming the industry leader in delivering in-space propulsion systems.
The position is full-time with location options in Boston, MA, and is available to be filled immediately.
Responsibilities
Lead a team of manufacturing engineers and technicians
Plan and direct all aspects of manufacturing standards, policies, objectives, and initiatives
Establish operating procedures focused on lean techniques, data driven processes, and continuous improvement
Develop and manage the department’s budget for training, execution, and growth
Hire new staff; Mentor and guide staff career progression
Strong collaboration with and technical support for Finance, Operations, Mission Assurance, Business Development, Programs and Missions.
Managing relationships with manufacturing suppliers and vendors
Build strategies that enable scaling of the business
Required Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Manufacturing, or Industrial Engineering, Operations Management, or equivalent
18+ years of relevant work experience.
5+ years in Senior Management with a manufacturing organization of 10+ employees
Experience scaling hardware from R&D to High-Rate Production
Experience in factory layout, manpower planning, and facility setup
Experience with OEM Manufacturing
Ability to obtain Security Clearance
Preferred Qualifications
Previous experience as Director of Manufacturing
25+ years of relevant work experience
Experience with working with and improving manufacturing shop floor control, MRP, or ERP software
Experience scaling from a small to medium-sized company
Previous experience in DoD and/or NASA programs
Current Security Clearance
