Overview: We have been retained to find a Director of Manufacturing / Machining for a leading company in the metal manufacturing and machining industry. This company is known for its precision, quality, and innovative tool-making solutions. Situated in the vibrant southwestern region of Ohio, conveniently located between two Dayton and Cincinnati, known for its suburban charm and excellent quality of life.

Position Summary: We are seeking a dynamic Director of Manufacturing / Machining to oversee operations and production activities. This role is pivotal in managing the machining department, ensuring efficiency, quality, and adherence to production schedules. The ideal candidate will possess strong leadership abilities, project management skills, and extensive experience in CNC machining, tooling, design, and quality inspection.

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead and manage the machining operations, including planning, scheduling, and execution of production activities.
• Develop and implement strategies to improve production efficiency and quality.
• Supervise a team of machinists and CNC operators, providing guidance and support.
• Ensure compliance with safety regulations and promote a culture of safety within the department.
• Collaborate with the engineering team to optimize machining processes and tools, including CNC environments with tooling, CMM inspection, assembly, and service and repair.
• Manage the implementation of new ERP systems and optimize the use of current systems.
• Monitor production metrics and implement continuous improvement initiatives, including Lean practices such as 5S and other common tools.
• Create and implement programs to enhance productivity and company culture, celebrating team wins and fostering a positive work environment.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in Manufacturing Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field; MBA is a plus.
• Minimum of 10 years of experience in machining and manufacturing, with at least 5 years in a leadership role.
• Strong understanding of CNC machining and tool making, with experience in CMM inspection, assembly, and service and repair.
• Experience with ERP systems; familiarity with Made to Manage is preferred.

• Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
