Director of Manufacturing

ALMACO in Nevada, IA is now recruiting for a Senior/Executive level candidate for our Director of Manufacturing role. The person in this position will lead collaboratively across the organization to achieve profitable monthly, quarterly, and annual operating plans.

This position is part of the Executive Leadership Team at ALMACO and is accountable for manufacturing, purchasing, supply, and maintenance departments, including both custom ag research product lines and strategic contract manufacturing. This is a full-time, exempt position and is fully on-site at our headquarters in Nevada, Iowa.

This Position's Focus

• Lead and manage at a high level while staying accountable to the work that needs to get done. In this role you will provide direct support to managers in manufacturing, purchasing, and maintenance, and indirect support to the supervisors, leads, and team members of these departments.
• Remove obstacles and improve processes for all departments to ensure revenue, profit, and cash-flow targets are achieved.
• Ensure correct levels of staffing, determine and obtain adequate materials, equipment, tools, and software to build efficiently, safely, on schedule, with high quality.
• Promote organizational-wide initiatives to involve all employees in client-focused performance.
• Champion Lean Manufacturing methodologies and partners with the Engineering team to transition products from prototype to production.
• Align procurement policies, achieve inventory metrics, and manage appropriate controls to optimize supply chain, logistics, and inventory levels.
• Ensure that internal standards and processes are followed to support environmental, safety, and health requirements.
  
  

What We Are Looking For In This Position

• At least 15 years of progressive leadership experience relating to manufacturing, engineering, and/or operations in a manufacturing environment.
• Successful experience leading teams in both high volume manufacturing and custom/niche job shop manufacturing in a metal fabrication/assembly setting.
• A good understanding of managing and scheduling manufacturing resources through the entire manufacturing cycle with 150 employees or more.
• A drive for developing leaders and employees and a comfort level with holding others accountable for upholding ALMACO values and meeting expectations.
• The ability to participate in setting, communicating, and executing a strategic vision for the organization in a constantly changing environment while driving bottom line growth.
• The ability to create an inclusive workplace that helps others grow, encourages teamwork, and handles conflict constructively while bringing different teams and departments together with a common goal.
• The ability to drive results using technical know-how, problem solving, and risk assessment.
• Demonstrated business acumen to understand and analyze financials and ability to make data-driven decisions to support the organization.
• The ability to respectfully and clearly communicate with individuals both internal and external, in small and large groups.
• A Driver’s License is required.
• Experience with multiple geographical operations doing business globally is preferred.
