Plans, directs and monitors strategic and tactical goals for the Laboratory Department in collaboration with the Medical Director and other clinical and operational stakeholders involved in the management of hospital laboratory services. Directs, monitors and manages all day-to-day administrative aspects of the department, including financial, operational and human resource issues. Develops and approves technical and operational policies and procedures, and ensures compliance with regulatory and accrediting agencies. Creates a highly efficient, accountable, and collaborative team environment with staff and with customers (physicians, nursing, and outreach clinics). Responsible for ensuring the highest standards of patient safety and quality are followed and maintained.

Qualifications
MINIMUM EDUCATION REQUIRED:
Bachelor degree in Medical Technology, or other acceptable science from a recognized college or university. Associates degree in Medical Technology 7 years of Medical Technologist experience can be substituted in lieu of the Bachelors degree.
MINIMUM EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:Five (5) years clinical experience and five (5) years progressive leadership experience.
Minimum Licensure/Certification Required By Law
Certification in medical technology; certification as a medical technologist or medical laboratory scientist by the American Society of Clinical Pathologists (ASCP), AMT (American Medical Technologists) or AAB (American Association of Bioanalysts) required. AAB provisional certification not accepted.
Additional Qualifications
Master of Business Administration or Health Administration preferred.
