The K-12 ITS Director of Infrastructure is pivotal in guaranteeing the smooth and secure functioning of our school district's IT infrastructure and software solutions. This position not only involves leading the development, implementation, and ongoing refinement of use and security policies, disaster recovery, and incident response strategies, but also extends to the visionary design and maintenance of infrastructure capable of supporting a robust 1:1 student program. The director will lead teams who are responsible for maintaining and innovating the next level of system security, ensuring that our infrastructure and the policies governing it are both resilient and forward-thinking. This leader is tasked with supporting modern telecommunications and implementing cutting-edge software solutions, including Mobile Device Management (MDM) and system administration of all devices, with an emphasis on automation to streamline operations. As a critical figure within the IT department, this leader works closely with the Chief Technology Officer (CTO) to supervise diverse teams and lay the groundwork for a future-ready educational environment.


Responsibilities

●Strategic Advisory Role: Serve as a key advisor and next in command to the Chief Technology Officer, contributing to the strategic planning and execution of IT initiatives that align with the district’s educational goals and technology trends.

● Leadership and Team Development: Lead and mentor the Infrastructure team, Software Solutions team and SysAdmin team, fostering an environment of innovation, collaboration, and professional growth.

● Visionary Infrastructure Design: Lead the design and development of a forward-looking IT team that supports a robust 1:1 student program. This includes planning for scalable growth to accommodate future educational technology trends.

● Advanced Security and Policy Development: Maintain and elevate the security of the district’s IT systems by working with the Network Security engineer and security team to design next-level security frameworks.

● Modern Communication Systems: Oversee the support and modernization of the district's telecommunications, ensuring reliable communication channels for staff, students, and parents.

● Software Solutions and Device Management: Implement and manage comprehensive software solutions with the MDM and SysAdmin team for efficient administration of all devices.

● Automation and Efficiency: Drive the automation of IT processes where possible to enhance efficiency, reduce manual workload, and ensure accuracy in system administration and monitoring.

● Strategic Planning and Supervision: Develop long-range capacity and replacement plans for network infrastructure to meet the district's evolving needs. Supervise the daily operations of the Infrastructure division, promoting a culture of excellence and continuous improvement.


Qualifications

●Exceptional leadership and team management skills, capable of mentoring and developing IT professionals across various disciplines.

● Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making capabilities, with the ability to handle high-pressure situations and complex IT challenges.

● Outstanding communication and interpersonal skills, capable of working effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

● Strategic thinker with the ability to develop long-range plans for IT infrastructure capacity, replacement, and technological advancement.

● Knowledge of current network security concepts and best practices.

● Experience developing and implementing IT policies, disaster recovery plans and incident response strategies.

● Commitment to staying abreast of the latest IT trends and technologies, especially those relevant to educational environments.

● Certification in ITIL, PMP, or relevant IT security certifications (such as CISSP, CISM) is highly desirable.
