Director Of Information Technology

The Director of Information Technology is responsible for the overall planning, organizing, and execution of all IT functions for Sunrise Community Health & Northern Colorado Health Alliance (NCHA). This includes directing all IT operations to meet customer requirements as well as the support and maintenance of existing applications and development of new technical solutions.

Position Summary

With a Quality, Customer First, and Compassionate approach, The Director of Information Technology will:

  • Analyze complex business needs presented by the user community and/or clients and recommend technical solutions.
  • Ensure the consistency and maintainability of existing applications by creating, maintaining, and enforcing standards/procedures for implementing technical solutions.
  • Produce detailed timelines for each application release and implement effective project controls by monitoring the progress of the software release and reporting the status.
  • Approve all business requirements prior to the technical solution.
  • Participate on all hardware and software evaluations and maintain vendor contracts.
  • Plan, organize, and coordinate activities supporting the evaluation, integration, and delivery of wide and local area networking of health data and management systems to meet the information needs.
  • Research and recommend appropriate medical practice software.
  • Develop budgets and direct financial initiatives – short term and long term.
  • Ensure the appropriate hardware, operating systems, networking, telecommunications, infrastructure, equipment and supporting personnel are in place.
  • Work with contracted IT support to:
  • Resolve all issues associated with the employee computing environment and network functionality in a timely fashion.
  • Provide technical support to employees by responding to phone calls, e-mail, and personnel requests.
  • Create and implement IT department policies and procedures.
  • Ensure that all electronic data is in compliance with Federal and State security and privacy regulations.
  • Build and maintain all user accounts (new employees and terminated employees).
  • Develop/Maintain efficient data/file storage system.
  • Develop in-depth working knowledge of EMR & PM systems.
  • Develop EMR components (i.e., form building, custom lists).
  • Assign/Maintain security privileges to users for EMR and PM.
  • Train users for EMR and PM.
  • Produce periodic EMR and PM reports for CQI, Management Teams, and clinical and operational staff to promote comprehensive care and operational efficiencies.
  • Attend user group meetings and participate in on-line trainings and user-group communications.
  • Develop in-depth working knowledge of interfaces between PM/EMR, PM/WCDPHE/Accounting System, and EMR/Lab agencies.
  • Serve as Link Logic Manager/Coordinator, working with staff to develop/maintain depth in this role.
  • Develop in-depth working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications.
  • Train users.
  • Develop and maintain periodic user “Newsletter” with helpful hints for Office Applications.
  • Lead EMR and PM meetings on a regular basis.
  • Locate and assist in applying for funding and charitable contributions related to hardware, software, and licensing.
  • Fulfill grant obligations.
  • Support participant’s organizations.
  • Develop and maintain intranet website that is focused on employee efficiency, communication, productivity and personal interest and internet website to promote Sunrise Community Health and NCHA and partnering agencies.
  • Responsible for telephone system, fax and copier administration and maintenance.
  • Create and maintain a current inventory of all IT related assets.
  • Participate in Quality Improvement and Compliance processes and activities in the organization.
  • Attend trainings and conferences as requested by Sunrise Community Health, WCDPHE and NCHA regarding IT related topics (i.e., user groups, HIPAA regulations, JCAHO Certification, EMR/PM).
  • Maintain patient confidentiality at all times in accordance with HIPAA regulations.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree (B.S.) in Computer Science or related field.
  • Masters’ Degree preferred.
  • Minimum of 8 years’ experience within information technology, healthcare experience in a non-profit organization preferred.
