Robert Half is servicing a reputable non-profit organization in Washington, DC looking for a permanent Human Resources Director. The ideal candidate will act as an employee champion and a leader of change. You will plan, develop, organize, implement, direct and evaluate the organization's human resource function and performance.
Responsibilities
Provide overall leadership and guidance by overseeing talent acquisition, employee career development, succession planning, retention programs, training and leadership development
Function as a strategic, human capital business advisor to the senior management team
Develop initiatives, policies and programs to complement existing practices and create consistency across the organization
Oversee benefit and compensation plans to ensure cost efficiencies and attractiveness to retain top talent
Strategically rethink the system of regular staff performance evaluations, from organizational competencies to feedback, and day to day manager/supervisee utilization, guiding the incorporation of the process into HRIS system, and provide guidance to managers to enhance the effectiveness of the evaluation process
Collaborate with CFO and COO on compensation and benefits philosophy, including annual benefits selection and open enrollment process, and serve as back up to People Department Senior Manager on bi-weekly payroll run as needed
Own HR department budget, manage contracts, as well as direct responsibility for invoice and reimbursement oversight and approvals
Serve as a senior point of contact for collective bargaining unit, including direct involvement in any formal grievance processes according to the terms of the collective bargaining agreement
Provide advice to management on labor laws, policies, and best practices to ensure compliance and fairness
Serve as the company's spokesperson in meetings with union representatives to review and respond to cases involving claims, grievances, and discipline appeals
Cultivate a strong partnership with the union at all levels
Responsible for ensuring compliance with any collective bargaining agreements in effect
Requirements
10+ years of HR experience with 1 year as a manager or above
Comprehensive knowledge and experience in labor relations, collective bargaining, HR Compliance and HR Policy formulation
Demonstrable experience in Benefits Administration and Compensation & Benefits
Ability to develop and implement HR Strategy aligned with organizational goals
Strong skills in Performance Management and employee evaluation
Experience operating within a collective bargaining agreement environment
