General Summary

The Director, Sourcing develops category, program and item sourcing strategies to support the overall company goals. This position works closely with the Product Development Team and Brand Managers on driving brand goals. The Director represents the best interest of Enesco with domestic and overseas agents and vendors.

Duties And Responsibilities - Essential Functions

  • Assists with technical design to ensure proper spec and construction is used for development
  • Actively canvas the world for new sourcing resources; work closely with overseas agents and vendors to develop efficiencies and new resources that ultimately result in savings
  • Researches, selects, and develops approved factories for production
  • Works with agents and Product Development in the request for quotes process, researching sourcing requirements, documenting quotes, and coordinating sourcing activities
  • Evaluate and analyze supplier proposals with Product Development and Brand Managers
  • Negotiates production/cost of products with approved factories to execute approved quality, cost and on time delivery
  • Obtains savings by analyzing landed cost and tracking savings on ROI
  • Monitors production to ensure quality and on-time product delivery is maintained
  • Works with CMO to ensure acceptable cost and delivery of products
  • Partners with EVP, Asia Operations to develop and maintain supplier relationships
  • Implement a Vendor Scorecard to analyze supplier spend data and process metrics to proactively recommend improvements
  • Provides education and guidance to buying teams as well as product development regarding the value of adopting and complying with sourcing policies, procedures and processes
  • Supports sourcing initiatives to address specific sourcing challenges while working with multiple business partners such as agents, Product Development and Merchandising
  • Collaborate with brand teams to develop objective worksheets for identified programs and items to be considered for global sourcing activities and potential placement
  • Define pertinent elements for sourcing programs and items, including freight on board price targets, trim/labeling/packaging components, product specifications for function and performance, regulatory and safety requirements, etc.
  • Regularly maintain tracking and project timeline tools
  • Monitor and support sample collection, approval and updating processes
  • Manage quality assurance team and logistics, ensuring all product are subjected to and achieve quality assurance guidelines and processes
  • Other duties and responsibilities as defined

Education And Experience

  • Minimum of 8 years merchandising experience with emphasis in Global Sourcing
  • Previous global sourcing / product development / production experience
  • Experience with a business intelligence software
  • Experience in various sourcing practices, tools, and lead/support efforts to enhance the value of sourcing to the organization
  • Bachelor's degree required
  • Bilingual, Mandarin a plus

Working Conditions

Normal; no adverse or hazardous conditions

Requires global travel; predominately in Asia, multiple 3-4 week trips per year

Salary: $75000 - $100000 per year
