Director of Finance

America's third oldest horse racing track, the Fair Grounds has been a New Orleans staple since 1852. We are a premiere entertainment venue presenting thoroughbred & exotic animal races, slots and simulcasting year-round.


The Director of Finance directs and manages company financial reporting and accounting functions in a consolidated accounting environment.


ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Assist the Sr. Director of Finance with financial analysis of all ongoing and proposed operations.
  • Collaborates with the Sr. Director Finance to support overall department goals and objectives.
  • Develops and manages a finance and reporting team capable of carrying out needed initiatives.
  • Direct oversight of the Daily Audits (Gaming & Operations) and Finance Generalist tasks.
  • Coordinates monthly accounting close cycle at property level.
  • Coordinates financial reporting on a monthly, quarterly, and annual basis.
  • Manages and coordinates external audits.
  • Assist Sr. Director of Finance with creating and coordinating annual budgets.
  • Assist Sr. Director of Finance with creating and submitting monthly forecast.
  • Analyzes variances to budget and forecast with follow-up to team leaders.
  • Ensures company has adequate internal controls.
  • Coordinates various accounting treatment situations with corporate finance and accounting.
  • Provide financial advice to department heads regarding operating and capital budgets and also make presentations to supervisors, management, boards, and committees
  • Assist Sr. Director of Finance with managing capital project expenditures with purchasing, finance, and other leaders.
  • Stays abreast of trends and regulations to ensure effectiveness and compliance.
  • Provides financial analysis and support of various projects and decisions

EDUCATION, TRAINING, AND EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance, or other relevant area.
  • MBA or CPA preferred.
  • Five to ten years of progressive experience in Accounting/Finance or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • High-level ability in MS Excel required.
  • Proficient experience in accounting software (JDE), accounting applications (Spreadsheet Server), purchasing models, and Food and Beverage accounting.
  • Gaming knowledge preferred.
  • Ability to obtain valid gaming and racing license

LICENSES/CERTIFICATES: Must be 21 years or older. Must be able to obtain a Louisiana Gaming License and Racing License.
