Hydrosat is a venture-backed space data analytics company developing a new earth observation constellation and software to unlock the power of thermal infrared imagery. Our mission is to capture and deliver thermal infrared data, currently not available from other sources, to provide insights into crop health, drought and wildfire risk, industrial activity, and situational awareness to government and commercial customers.
We are seeking an experienced Space Systems leader to lead the development of a new Earth observation satellite constellation measuring multispectral surface reflectance and land surface temperature. This role will appeal to candidates looking to use their leadership and engineering skills to impact the world in agriculture, climate, and public safety applications. What you'll do:
Lead the design, development, integration, testing and operations of Hydrosat's Earth observation satellite constellation
Manage constellation development project goals and contribute to the technology roadmap
Establish and maintain effective engineering processes
Develop relationships with contractor partners and ensure on-time, high quality delivery against requirements
Support a team of hardware and software engineers, including resource planning, hiring, professional development, and mentorship
Lead complex technical projects by example, providing suggested approaches, design guidance, and reviews
Work closely with program and product management to ensure objectives, priorities, and acceptance criteria are well understood
Prepare and present project status reports, technical findings, and strategic recommendations to senior management
Establish and maintain relationships with key stakeholders, including government agencies, industry partners, and suppliers, to support project goals and business development efforts
Ensure compliance with all regulatory, safety, and environmental requirements
Constantly optimize the happiness and productivity of a remote team through clear communication and feedback
Requirements
U.S. Citizen
Advanced degree in engineering, physics, or imaging science
10+ years of systems engineering experience, with 5+ years in a leadership role
Demonstrable experience leading multiple teams developing integrated systems
Extensive knowledge of spacecraft and Earth observation instrument design, development, and testing methodologies
Experience operating space systems for Earth observation
Familiarity with regulatory and compliance requirements in the aerospace industry
Demonstrable experience growing and mentoring teams
Strong first principles thinking and decision making
Strong team player with demonstrated ability to take ownership and drive execution
