Director of Engineering

Summary

We are seeking an experienced and visionary Director of Engineering to lead our engineering department. The successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing the development and implementation of our electronic systems and products. This role requires a strategic thinker with a robust background in defense technology and a proven track record of successful project delivery.

Bascom Hunter provides solutions to the Department of Defense (DoD) and Aerospace markets across various disciplines. Our BH Tech division currently provides products and services across four product lines: RF Systems, RF Components, Neuromorphic Processors and Photonics.

Responsibilities:

• Lead the engineering team in the design, development, and delivery of complex electronic systems for defense applications.
• Manage the entire product lifecycle from concept through design, development, testing, and support.
• Collaborate with other department heads to align engineering projects with company goals and customer requirements.
• Drive innovation in product development while ensuring compliance with industry standards and regulatory requirements.
• Develop and manage the engineering budget; forecast and allocate resources efficiently.
• Implement best practices for project management and engineering excellence.
• Mentor and develop the engineering team; foster a collaborative and high-performance culture.
• Establish and maintain relationships with key stakeholders, suppliers, and partners in the defense industry.
• Ensure products meet high quality and reliability standards to satisfy customer needs and safety requirements.
• Report to senior management on progress, challenges, and strategic opportunities.

Requirements:

• Bachelor's or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
• 10+ years of engineering experience in the defense industry, with at least 5 years in a leadership role.
• Strong background in electronics design and manufacturing, with a focus on defense-related applications.
• Proven ability to manage large, cross-functional teams and multi-million-dollar projects.
• Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
• Critical thinker with a strong problem-solving capability.
• Familiarity with industry standards such as ISO, MIL-STD, and ITAR regulations.
• Active security clearance or the ability to obtain one.
